I have already said that, are you crazy?
Obviously, that is not something you can tell your examiner (unfortunately 😑). Whether they want more detail or have just been a little inattentive and missed what you said, examiners do sometimes make you repeat yourself.
Whatever you do, do not roll your eyes and disrespect the examiner (after all, you need the score, not them).
Here's how you can handle such situations:
1. Acknowledge and Rephrase: Politely acknowledge that you’ve mentioned it before, then rephrase your previous answer to show your language skills.
- Like I said earlier ...
- As I was saying ...
- I did touch on that earlier ...
- Again, ...
- Oh, yes, I did talk about that!
2. Provide More Details: Expand your answer. Remember, you have to speak at length to show you language proficiency.
- To add to what I said,
- I'm glad you asked because there's actually more to it.
- To give you more, ...
Notice that you might not need these structures and just continue with additional information.
Example: "Again, I did mention my love for reading earlier. I particularly enjoy historical fiction because it allows me to immerse myself in different time periods."
