On December 3rd, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan (UNODC ROCA)
and the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) in Tashkent organized a series of lectures focused on gender-based violence, as part of the global 16 Days of Activism campaign. The event saw the participation of over 100 students who engaged in meaningful discussions surrounding this critical issue.
Ms. Salome Flores Sierra Franzoni, Head of the UNODC Information Centre for Research and Analysis of Transnational Threats Related to Drugs and Crime, delivered a compelling presentation on the key findings of the Global Femicides Report. She shared alarming facts and statistics, offering a detailed analysis of the global scale of gender-based violence and its far-reaching impacts.
Following this, Ms. Gulnar Kudaybergenova, National Project Officer at UNODC, led an interactive session focused on preventing gender-based violence and promoting gender equality. Her session encouraged student participation, fostering an engaging dialogue on how to effectively address these issues.
