In some countries, celebrities complain about the way the media publicize their private lives. Some people say that they should accept it as part of their fame.
Do you agree or disagree?
The media does not generally draw a line between the professional and public lives of famous figures. This has been the reason for complaints by some celebrities who believe that materials about their personal life should not be shared in the media. Nevertheless, some people feel it is just a part of their life as public figures. Personally, I strongly disagree with this view.
First, such exposure of their private matters to the public seriously limits their and their families’ freedom in public spaces. They should essentially forget about simple pleasures in life such as strolls in parks or visits to museums. The paparazzi and fans closely observe all their actions in these places. While it was only reporters that could publicize materials about such occasions in the pre-internet era, the advent of social media now allows each person to reach large audiences with their posts. To make matters even worse, celebrities are often approached and asked various personal questions during their outings with their close ones, potentially ruining their quality time.
While this is stressful in and of itself, it is even more so during times of hardship. Family break-ups or scandals surrounding famous people make headlines in the media and reach millions of people online. Media materials about such events and constant questions by reporters and fans exacerbate the situation even more. Comment sections on social media platforms are flooded with judgmental, hateful remarks about the actions of celebrities. Naturally, such challenging situations can affect not only their private lives but also damage their professional career as well.
In conclusion, constant media attention to private matters of famous people deprives them of the opportunity to spend quality time in public areas. Even more importantly, this attention can bring an overwhelming amount of stress to their lives and potentially affect their professional life as well. Hence, I firmly believe that the private matters of famous people should not be open to the public.
