The provided chart demonstrates statistical data regarding the age of Iceland citizens from 1990 to 2020.
Overall, what stands out is that while there was a decline in the percentage of people aged 55-64, 15-24, 0-14 throughout the given period, the reverse could be said about those who are 25-54 and 65+. Of particular note is that, the share of 25-54 year olds was always the highest in all years
Looking at the downward trends first, despite a minimal decrease in the proportion of those aged 55-64 from 14% in 1990 to 12% in 2000, their rate stood almost unchanged by 2010. Conversely, that index dropped again to its lowest at 10% in 2020. Turning to 15-24 year olds, there was a continous fall within the given three decades as it first dipped from 22% in 1990 to 19% in 2000, and plummeted to mere 8% by 2020. With regard to the youngest age group, similar pattern could be seen. In 1990 their proportion started with 26%, but went down to 18% by 2020
When it comes to the upward trends, the oldest age group, 65 and over, displayed only nearly 13% in 1990, after which it went up insignificantly to approximately 15% in 2010 before experiencing a decline to 14% by 2020. As far as 25-54 year olds are concerned not only did they show a constant growth from 32% in 1990 to 38% in 2010, but also reached a peak of 49% in 2020 which was the highest margin in the entire chart.
