The provided maps demonstrate the changes that took place in Happy Valley Shopping Center between 1982 and 2012.
Overall, what stands out is that with the exception of the Entertainment area and Toilets that remained unchanged within the given three decades, there was a total makeover as a result of the changes to the Food, Electronics and Sports stores as well as new features, such as Furniture retail, Parking Lot along with themed restaurants.
Looking at the former year first, the shopping complex was surrounded by trees neighbored by a massive lake to its west. At the entrance, there was a lobby area between the Coffee shop and Toilets. Moving to the middle, on the northern side and above the Entertainment area, there used to be a Food store, while Elevators were located on the southern side. When it comes to the right hand side, three adjacent stores, including Sports, Electronics and Furniture, could be seen.
After 30 years, there were many transformations as the removal of the lake made way for a new Furniture retail and visitors to the Shopping center were granted a huge Parking Lot. Whereas the Coffee shop was no longer there and Food store was relocated to the south-east corner, the introduction of Themed restaurants on the east side meant Sports and Electronics stores were moved to the northern part of the Mall. It is noteworthy that Toilets, Entertainment area and elevators kept their old location, although the lobby area near the entrance was removed.
