A large-scale exhibition project ‘Uzbekistan: Avant-Garde in the Desert’ continues its work at the Savitsky State Museum of Art.
Among all the works on this wall, Alexei Podkovyrov's self-portrait ‘Blue Evening in the Mountains’ catches the eye first of all. The easy gait of the painter and the red flower in his hand make him a real romantic. Having studied at the Rozanov Art Studio in Tashkent, Podkovyrov quickly became friends with local artists Ural Tansykbaev and Nikolai Karakhan, and after a while became a member of the famous art group ‘Volkov's Brigade’.
The exhibition “Uzbekistan: Avant-Garde in the Desert” will run at the Savitsky State Museum of Art until 1 June 2025.
