The two maps show the transformation of an art gallery ground floor since 2005. Overall, the floor has become more accessible and visitor-friendly, with the introduction of a range of new facilities. It is also clear that the majority of the changes took place in the left side of the building while the right side remained untouched.
Focusing on the 2005 layout, access to the floor was from the bottom of the map, with the exhibition room 1 to the right and exhibition room 4 situated on the other side. There was a spacious entrance hall, with a reception area, behind which were the stairs. While the exhibition rooms 2 and 3 were located to the right of the receptionist and stairs, café and gallery office were on the other side.
Since then, the floor has changed considerably. The entrance now features a wheelchair ramp and the reception area sits closer to the entrance. While the exhibition room 4 made room for temporary exhibition and children’s area, the café and gallery office have been replaced by gallery shop and vending machine. Another alteration is the relocation of the stairs slightly to the left to allow room for a new lift. The three exhibition rooms on the right, however, did not see any changes.
