Many young people dont do sports these days.
What are the reasons and solutions.
The number of young people who regularly do sports is decreasing at an alarming rate. While this problem can be attributed to a number of factors, it can be addressed in various ways.
One of the main reasons for the lack of young people’s participation in sports is increased academic pressure. Recent years have seen a marked increase in the amount of homework students need to do and exams they take. Students spend a better part of their days completing these assignments and preparing for the exams, which leaves very little time to pursue hobbies, let alone do sports. Technological distractions can be another contributing factor. The majority of young people prefer sedentary activities, such as watching movies, socializing online, and playing online games. This is because these activities are more accessible than going to the gym or attending sport clubs.
However, there are several ways by which the problem can be tackled. One effective measure to solve the problem is organizing regular sporting events. If schools, universities, and even workplaces organize competitions and marathons; and those who actively take part in them are rewarded, this can inspire people to take up sports. Apart from improving their physical health, people can also enjoy increased productivity, concentration, and reduced levels of stress. Further approach is to increase access to sporting facilities. Having sporting facilities, such gyms, football pitches, running tracks, basketball and tennis courts, within walking distance can serve as an incentive for people to do sports, as the lack of access to such areas are cited among the main reasons why people don’t engage in sport activities.
In conclusion, the main reasons behind the problem are academic burden and distractions of technology. However, the problem can be effectively addressed, once the measures suggested are taken, such as organizing frequent sporting events and providing better access to sporting facilities.
