People cannot agree on whether competition or cooperation should be prioritized in different aspects of life, such as work, education and daily activities. I personally believe that working cooperatively benefits people more than competing against one another.
On the one hand, some individuals claim that competition with counterparts at work, at school, at university and in daily life can result in improvements. This is mainly because competitive spirit never allows its owner to stop from growing if it is ignited successfully. The desire to outcompete one's colleague, groupmate or neighbor forces a person to continuously work on weaknesses and to try to improve so that he/she will fall behind.
On the other hand, cooperation is praised by others in these aspects of life as key to success. As people tend to be better than each other at certain areas, team work enables them to find and work on weaknesses receiving help from someone who is good at this. For instance, many international companies, including Google emphasizes on the importance of teamwork in increasing productivity of workers. Besides this, teachers in schools encourage students to take an advantage of working cooperatively to fill the gaps in their abilities.
In conclusion, I think that competition based on cooperation would benefit people more than only either competing or cooperating.
