Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur (1483โ1530) was a poet, military leader, and the founder of the Mughal Empire. He wrote in Chagatai Turkic and Persian, with his poetry reflecting themes of love, nature, and personal struggles.
Oh Friends, If You Ask About Me
(Doโstlar, mendin agar hol soโrsangiz)
Doโstlar, mendin agar hol soโrsangiz,
Holim bu ki, men beqaror oโturdim.
Gar mendin soโrasang ne holatdasan,
Bir holatdamen, beqaror oโturdim.
Ishq ichra koโnglumni obod qildim,
Nechukkim, vayroni obod boโlgay.
Koโzumdin chiqqon yosh selin tutolmam,
Ki, daryolar toshsa, bandi ne qilsin?
This is a translated version of one of his poems, but he wrote many in his Diwan (collection of poetry), covering themes like love, fate, and longing. His most famous work is the Baburnama, an autobiographical account filled with poetic expressions.
