At WIUT, we are encouraged to be reflective learners right from the very first year. As we approach the new semester (for some of us, the final one 🥲), it’s a great time to reflect on how we’ve managed our studies so far and think about how we can improve.
Reflecting on my first semester in Level 6, I realized that even though I started with a study plan, it didn’t work out as I had hoped (picture). As deadlines piled up, it became harder and harder to track my progress. I fell behind on my schedule, missed one or two classes due to submission pressures, and felt overwhelmed. However, despite the challenges, I managed to score 90+ in two of my modules, which reminded me that progress is still possible even when things don’t go perfectly.
In the last two weeks of the semester, I tried something new that worked surprisingly well. I noticed that attending the same class twice helped me understand the material much better. Let me explain: I tried to attend all classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, take some time to understand what we covered, and then reattend other tutor's classes again on Thursday, and Friday for the same topics. This gave me time to absorb what we had covered and solve questions independently.
This time as well, I wanna create a study plan, that’s more effective than ever before. I’m calling it “An Ideal Student” plan, and I hope it will help me stay on track, manage deadlines, and truly excel.🚀
What about you guys? Have you reflected on your last semester? Do you have any study tips to share?
