Victory has 100 fathers and defeat is an orphan.

I remember being rejected by practically every university I applied to. It felt isolating. Lonely, depressing — is it the end of the world? all for nothing?

the hours, years, a DECADE fully devoted to going to repetitor after repetitor, without questioning if that's anything you ever wanted. all for a rejection, or, worse, WAITLIST???

YES!!! — is what your inner devil shouts.

But don't let him take over you.

Is College important? absolutely. is being rejected heart-broking? No doubt.

But there are so many options still worth exploring!

I get it: you feel lonely, you feel no one cares about you.

but people do! you have friends. you have friends who have gone through the same steps: some successful, others not.

and you need to go to them. take a cup of lemon tea, somsa with premium tomato (sold in front of wiut), and open a clean sheet of paper.

WHAT DO I or WE DO NEXT? what is the next best move on the chessboard?

you cannot be swayed by emotions, public opinion, and certainly your amaki's chala consultancy.

if you want to take a gap year, make a full committment, preferably with your friend(s), and start consulting with people who already got in.

ask: I have X months left, here are my interests, what can I do in the gap year based on my goals, background, and interests?

if you want to stay in your country, that is OKAY!

dont downgrade local unis. CAU and NewUU are making great strides and are worth serious consideration.

make a decision, consult with your friends, parents, and people with experience (not age), and make the next move on the chessboard.

as for crying, id rather recommend joining our marathon running club.

Rejected Again and Again

I applied to 40+ universities over the past 2 years. I spent months working on my applications—writing essays, fixing every small mistake, and trying to show the best version of myself. I knew some schools would reject me. But knowing something and feeling it are not the same.

The first rejection came quickly. A short email, polite words, and the same message: We regret to inform you… It hurt, but I told myself to move on. Then came the next rejection. And the next. Soon, I lost count.

At first, I opened each email immediately. I wanted to know the result. But after a while, I started waiting. I let the emails sit in my inbox for hours, afraid to read the words I already knew were there. Every rejection felt like a door closing, like another school saying, You are not good enough.

It is easy to say that rejection makes you stronger. People say it teaches you a lesson, that it leads you to something better. Maybe that is true, but when you are in the middle of it, rejection only feels like failure. You begin to wonder if something is wrong with you, if maybe you were never meant to succeed in the first place.

For every rejection I received, I reminded myself that I only needed one yes. One acceptance to a place that saw my potential. In the end, the rejections didn’t matter nearly as much as the opportunities that came through.

If you're dealing with rejection, I won’t tell you it doesn’t hurt. It does. But it’s not the end. You move forward, you grow, and one day, you’ll look back and realize those “no’s” led you exactly where you needed to be.

Whoever holds himself in higher regard than his teacher is doomed to fail. Period.

Listen, try your best. Genuinely give your all to realizing your goal or vision. But if it does not work out, learn to move on.

There is no reason to get obsessed with an unattainable objective that may not make sense anymore.

Our world is full of with new opportunities, frontiers, and people. Keep pushing while believing, perhaps naively, that the future holds something special for you.
