The pie charts highlight the primary sources of energy utilized in the USA in the years: 1980 and 1990.

Overall, it can be observed that fossil fuels including oil, natural gas, and coal accounted for the majority of energy source in the USA, while renewable energy types – hydroelectric as well as nuclear power – came at the bottom of the list. Notably, energy figures for oil and natural gas decreased, with that of coal and nuclear power increased over time.

In 1980, oil was responsible for almost half of all energy in the USA, at 42%. Following this came natural gas and coal, constituting 26% and 22%, respectively. In contrast, renewable power sources – hydroelectric and nuclear – had the lowest shares, at 5% each.

After a decade, natural gas and especially oil saw their contributions drop, falling by 1% and 9%. However, coal and nuclear energy climbed by 5% each, with the former comprising 27%, while the latter 10%. Ultimately, hydroelectric power maintained its status quo, staying unchanged at its initial 5%.

The bar chart illustrates the total distance traveled in passenger kilometers by five modes of transport in the UK between 1990 and 2000.

Overall, buses and trains were the most frequently used modes of transport, whereas bicycles, motorbikes, and air travel accounted for significantly lower figures. While bicycle and motorbike usage declined slightly over the decade, air, bus, and rail travel all experienced modest increases, contributing to the overall rise in passenger kilometers.

In 1990, bicycles and motorbikes recorded 5 billion and 6 billion kilometers, respectively. By 2000, both had declined by 1 billion kilometers. Conversely, air travel showed an upward trend, increasing from 5 billion to 6 billion kilometers over the same period.

Meanwhile, buses were responsible for a substantial 45 billion kilometers in 1990, which rose marginally by 1 billion kilometers in 2000. A similar pattern was observed for rail transport, which accounted for 44 billion kilometers initially before increasing to 47 billion after a decade. These increases contributed to growth in total passenger kilometers, which rose from 105 billion in 1990 to 110 billion in 2000.

The line graph illustrates the number of cats and dogs owned by UK residents between 1980 and 2015.

Overall, while both pet ownership trends increased over time, their trajectories differed. Initially, dog ownership was significantly more common than cat ownership, but from the early 2000s onward, the number of cat owners exceeded that of dog owners.

In 1980, around 15 million people in the UK owned dogs, nearly twice as many as those who had cats (7 million). By 1990, both figures had fluctuated, peaking at 17 million and 8 million, respectively, before declining to 12 million and 7 million. This period marked the most significant decline in pet ownership.

However, between 1990 and 2000, the number of dog owners surged almost fourfold, reaching 45 million, while cat ownership followed a steadier upward trajectory, peaking at 21 million in 1995 before stabilizing for five years. After 2000, contrasting trends emerged: dog ownership gradually declined to 39 million by 2015, whereas the number of cat owners continued to rise, culminating at 47 million, the highest figure recorded.
