🇰🇿The presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan is alarming
On Wednesday, Ambassador Bolat Nurgaliyev, former secretary general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization from Kazakhstan, speaking at a conference organized by the Institute of Regional Studies, suggested that the upcoming SCO summit should give priority attention to the pressing problem of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.
🇨🇳🇰🇿Within the framework of the SCO, Kazakhstan intends to propose
🔹Expand the exchange of intelligence
🔹Qualitatively improve the conduct of joint counter-terrorism exercises and operations
🔹Strengthen regional cooperation in combating terrorist networks operating across borders
🇵🇰Pakistan's experience
Pakistan's extensive experience in conducting counter-terrorism operations, especially in its tribal regions, is a valuable asset for Kazakhstan in addressing this issue.
In particular, Kazakhstan has studied the experience of conducting military campaigns and operations
🔹 Operation Zarb-e-Azb (2014) - a military offensive in North Waziristan targeting militant strongholds and disrupting their networks
🔹 Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad (2017) - an operation aimed at eliminating residual terrorist threats and consolidating the achievements of previous operations
🔹The actions of Pakistan's intelligence agencies, which in their time played a crucial role in identifying and neutralizing terrorist cells, were also studied
Pakistan's experience in disrupting the financial networks of terrorist organizations by freezing assets, monitoring suspicious transactions and cooperating with international financial institutions was studied.
Kazakhstan also reviewed Pakistan's previously implemented “National Action Plan” (NAP). Introduced in 2015, the NAP is a comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy that includes measures such as:
🔹Strengthening anti-terrorism laws
🔹Establishing military courts for quick trials of terrorists
🔹Combating hate speech and extremist propaganda
