🇰🇿🇷🇺Today in Astana scheduled a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The meeting will discuss topical issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, joint projects in various sectors, integration efforts within the Eurasian Economic Union.
🔹Bilateral trade
In 2023, trade turnover between Russia and Kazakhstan reached significant figures: exports from Russia to Kazakhstan amounted to $16.5 billion, imports from Kazakhstan - $8.78 billion. In particular, the volume of trade in agricultural products increased: Russia is a key supplier of wheat, barley, poultry meat, sugar and dairy products to Kazakhstan.
🔹Energy sector
During the meeting, the parties will discuss further development of the gas sector, including projects that could provide significant volumes of gas for both domestic consumption and export, particularly to China. Discussions on cooperation in the nuclear energy sector are also to be expected. In particular, branches of Russian nuclear universities have been opened in Kazakhstan.
🔹Industry
Kazakhstan and Russia are currently implementing 67 joint projects worth $14 billion in sectors such as machine building, metallurgy and chemical industry, which are expected to create more than 11,000 jobs. It is highly likely that the prime ministers will touch upon the topic of industry during the discussion.
🔹Agriculture
The focus will be on developing cooperation in agriculture, in particular the construction of a fertilizer plant in Kazakhstan with the participation of Russian companies.
🇦🇲EAEU
Both countries are key members of the EAEU, which promotes the formation of a common economic space with reduced tariffs and expanded trade. Interaction within the EAEU is one of the key topics of discussion during Mishustin's visit to Kazakhstan.
