Some people think that it is fine for professional sportsmen to misbehave off the field, as long as they are playing well.

Do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

There is a common belief among the public that
professional athletes should be free to misbehave outside the field as long as they maintain top performance during competitions. While I acknowledge that every athlete—whether a football player or a tennis champion—has their own personal life and freedom of choice, I firmly believe that they have a responsibility to follow public norms, set a positive example for their audience, and be mindful of how their behavior might affect their careers and public perception.

Firstly, some argue that everyone, regardless of their profession, should have the right to engage in activities of their choice. This perspective is based on the idea of privacy and free will. In societies where individualism and personal freedom are highly valued, it may seem unfair to criticize athletes for their personal choices, even if those choices include misbehavior or bad habits. For example,
Neymar Junior has often been in the spotlight for breaking cultural norms, indulging in partying and smoking, and showcasing this lifestyle to the public. However, while such incidents may create short-lived media sensations, they do not necessarily define his professionalism on the field. Critics argue that as long as an athlete’s performance remains unaffected, their private life should not be subject to scrutiny.

However, no matter how individualistic a society may be, cultural norms and social responsibilities cannot be ignored. Athletes are public figures with a massive fan following, and their influence extends beyond the game. Many young fans look up to them as role models and may imitate their behavior, even the negative aspects. For instance,
Wayne Rooney, a legendary footballer, has faced criticism for his off-field actions, such as excessive partying and alcohol consumption, which tarnished his image and impacted his career. If athletes engage in harmful behaviors such as substance abuse or reckless activities, it sets a poor example for the younger generation. Therefore, sportsmen should be encouraged to act as positive role models by engaging in charitable activities or at least avoiding behaviors that could negatively influence society.

In conclusion, while professional athletes are entitled to personal freedom, they also bear a social responsibility due to their significant influence on the public. Their actions, both on and off the field, shape public perception and inspire millions of fans. Therefore, they should strive to set a positive example and uphold the values of discipline, responsibility, and good conduct.

The next book I have barely managed to finish is a classic Hercule Poirot Mystery. I have come to the conclusion or convinced myself for the idea of quality over quantity, meaning even though Agatha Christie was crowned to be the queen of crime mystery, the abundance of his novels made the plot and scenario of some of her books rather dull or semi-thought, failing to grab attention of me. The ABC murder mystery was written in a good language, but there is some special ingredient omitted that prevented me to feel enthusiastic about the rest of her books, characters and actions were not well-thought, main persons were rather like a spoiler.

Franz Kafka is a quintessential embodiment of artistic talent, whose work masterfully critiques societal expectations in a deceptively simplistic manner—something rarely, if ever, seen. At first glance, The Metamorphosis may seem dull, yet the plot gradually intensifies, pulling the reader in like a black hole—an inescapable and overwhelming force.

Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman, wakes up one morning to find himself transformed into a monstrous vermin. His first reaction is not one of horror at his grotesque metamorphosis but rather a preoccupation with whether he is late for work—an almost absurd reflection of how capitalism conditions individuals to prioritize their labor above all else. This serves as a scathing critique of a system that engrains professional obligations so deeply into people’s psyche that even in the face of existential crises, their immediate concern remains productivity.

A central theme of the novel is the brutal rejection of those who can no longer fulfill their societal function. Once the primary breadwinner, Gregor is swiftly discarded by his family—his father, mother, and even his once-caring sister. This mirrors the harsh reality that a man’s value, particularly in a capitalist society, is often measured by his economic contribution. The moment one becomes incapable of generating income, they risk being cast aside not only by society at large but even by those closest to them—a sobering truth few dare to acknowledge.

The third book on my reading list LETTER TO MY FATHER by Franz Kafka, an embodiment of classic literature. The particular book is the reflection of emotions and untold word of Franz to his father, a man portrayed as someone who always acts angrily and tries to make the whole family obey the so-called rules in the family environment, ranging from how to eat at mealtimes to what kind of words that are coming out of mouth of children and their mother. This book is a testament to the father figure of 20th century, where fathers are respected within the family and likely to be described as an aggressive man, from whom his own children want to escape and see him as someone ruthless, a classic example of Uzbek fathers of the last generation. I basically could not feel the deep emotions of the writer, part of the reason I, myself, was raised in a family, where almost all of my opinions and everybody's opinions have been and will be considered and I will not remember my father with such an anger, as he was rather a calm man, a memory from my old days, where he used to show little aggression for the stuff I have done wrong and also my mother was not the so-called indicator between me and my father, which was the opposite in terms of Franz's life. Generally, a good book to read, could be a cure for those whose father punished a lot, huh.

The second book on the menu is THE LAWS OF HUMAN NATURE.

This particular book is the masterpiece of Robert Greene, where he intends to details the intricacies and nuances of human behavior and how to act under certain conditions and deal with people, providing the read with a deep follow-up story and comprehensive interpretation, showing the reader how to use these so-called unhidden laws in every aspect of one's life, be it professional or private. The book additionally concentrates on some traits that are deeply ingrained in human behavior and how to handle the bad ones to uplift your personal skills, the chapter where writer mentions ENVY, an evil characteristics, is the chapter that I have taken something valuable for myself. Unlike 48 laws of power, almost all the rules and recommendations given by the writer can teach you something important, in a way that is understandable and most importantly usable with little consistency and practicality over the time.

The first book that I have finished reading in 2025 is THE 48 LAWS OF POWER.

Having been praised and elevated with much hype on the internet, the book merely met my expectations. The reason behind my frustration tails back to the depth of book which was not equally distributed across all the laws, meaning first 3-4 rules have been thoughtfully and extensively compiled, with accompanying stories reflecting the interpretation of laws and follow-up transagressions, which drives you to delve into the book, though losing the depth following rule number 10, where most of the stories merely mirror the laws or sometimes seem to be made up artificially. But this is not underestimation of the book, where some valuable stuff can be learnt, meaning reading up the brief overview of some laws is more than enough to grasp what writer is trying to say.

I wish I could accept the normality of having disorder in life. I’d never thought my perfect” life would be dull mechanical routines that must be followed or else the dreadful sense of guilt would serve me as a punishment if I ever venture to break this flawless fixed cycle - as if the closer I get to daring to break it, the more intensifying the guilt will be and the more I’d spend time loathing myself for not obeying the rules I once set for myself. Yet having these bring immense pleasure when they pay off in the end; and still, may this disgusting perfection be good to all in some way, I still desire to get rid of it to live as I wish, not as I am expected to or supposed to - I wish I weren’t devoured by the devil of inferiority every time I dare to just be.

Late night thoughts.
