The Blind Girl
There was a blind girl who hated herself because of her blindness. She hated everyone except her loving boyfriend, who was always there for her. One day, she told him, “If I could only see the world, I would marry you.”
Soon after, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she could see everything, including her boyfriend. He asked her, “Now that you can see, will you marry me?”
She was shocked to see that he was blind too. The thought of being tied to a blind man for the rest of her life was too much. She refused. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote her a letter saying, “Just take care of my eyes, dear.”
When our circumstances change, so do we. True love and gratitude are often tested in moments of transformation.
