The maps demonstrate how seafront location in Darwin altered between the years 2009 and 2014.
Overall, the area became more green due to the removal of industrial area. Additionally, additional facilities were constructed for locals to live, study and spend time near the sea.
In 2009, there was a school and a convention centre in the northwestern side of the map, a bit close to the lake in the centre. To the south, there was a small group of trees and part of the industrial area, all of which were connected to the sea through a circular footpath. Between the lake and the sea, a couple of swimming pools were open for public use. Behind the trees, there were three residential buildings for employees working in the large industrial area in the south. Moreover, people had access to the fishing area, which was located in the southernmost part of the sea.
By 2014, the industrial zone had been totally eliminated to make space for a large cluster of trees. In addition to this, a new university building was constructed in the east of the map, providing educational opportunities for locals. The small part of the industrial area in the north was replaced with a new swimming pool, while all the other facilities including school, convention centre, two remaining pools, fishing area and the lake remained untouched. More importantly, the number of residential houses doubled for the benefits of the locals, whereas a new harbour in the southern part of the sea was built to support fishing activities more than before. It was connected to the road on the left side of the territory with a footpath making it more accessible for people.
