Part 1: How to Apply to German Universities for a Bachelor's Degree as an Uzbek Student ๐ฉ๐ช๐
Germany is one of the best places to study, offering world-class education, tuition-free universities, and strong career opportunities. Hereโs everything you need to know!
The Uzbek Attestat (high school diploma) is not equivalent to the German Abitur (high school qualification), so you cannot apply directly. Instead, you have two options:
โ Option 1: Direct Admission After One Year of University
If you complete one year of a recognized bachelor's program in Uzbekistan or another country, you can apply directly to a German university. However, the university must be accredited and listed in Anabin, Germanyโs official database for foreign education recognition.
โ Option 2: Studienkolleg (Foundation Year in Germany)
If you donโt study one year in Uzbekistan, you must take a one-year preparatory course (Studienkolleg) in Germany. After Studienkolleg, you must pass the Feststellungsprรผfung (FSP) exam to qualify for a bachelor's degree.
Which option is better?
If you want to save time, studying one year at an accredited university in Uzbekistan or abroad is the faster option. If you prefer to start fresh in Germany, Studienkolleg is a good choice, but it adds an extra year.
Examples of Studienkollegs:
TU Berlin Studienkolleg (Technical & Engineering fields)
Universitรคt Leipzig Studienkolleg
HSPF Studienkolleg (Private, offers English-taught foundation year)
Germany has over 400 universities, including some of the best in the world. Here are a few top choices by field:
๐ Engineering & Computer Science: TU Munich (TUM), RWTH Aachen
๐ Medicine & Life Sciences: Heidelberg University, LMU Munich
๐ Business & Economics: University of Mannheim, WHU โ Otto Beisheim School of Management
Use these platforms to find programs:
๐ Hochschulkompass โ Official German university database
๐ Uni-Assist โ Centralized application system
๐ DAAD Database โ Primarily for master's degree scholarships, but useful for general info
Most bachelorโs programs in Germany are taught in German. You usually need:
โ B2 or C1 level German (TestDaF, DSH, or Goethe Zertifikat)
There are some English-taught programs, mainly in business and engineering. For those, you need:
โ IELTS (6.0-6.5) or TOEFL (80+ IBT)
๐ก If you donโt meet the language requirements, you can take a German language course in Germany before applying.
Since 2023, Uzbek students must get an APS certificate to apply to German universities. This certificate:
๐น Verifies that your high school diploma and grades meet German standards
๐น Prevents fake documents and speeds up student visa processing
๐ How to Apply for APS?
Submit your documents to the German Embassy in Tashkent
The process takes 6-8 weeks
Fee: Around โฌ250
๐จ Without the APS certificate, your university application and visa will be rejected!
To apply for a bachelorโs program, you need:
โ High school diploma (Attestat) & transcripts โ Translated into German or English
โ APS Certificate โ Mandatory for Uzbek students
โ Language certificate โ German (TestDaF/DSH) or English (IELTS/TOEFL)
โ Motivation letter โ Explain why you want to study in Germany
โ CV (Lebenslauf) โ Your educational and extracurricular activities
โ Passport copy
Most universities require certified translations of your documents.
