Recent advances in technology have enabled many people to go online and seek help for different purposes, especially in medical grounds. This tendency, however, has resulted in seldom visits to medical professionals. While there are some reasons why this is happening, I personally believe that it is a change for the worse.
There are a couple of primary factors why an increasing number of individuals are seeking medical aid on the internet. One of them has to do with convenience, meaning that patients no longer need to wait in long lines for clinical check-ups. Instead, they can go online and search for various recommendations or treatments which fit their conditions. Another major factor is associated with a wide array of information about particular medicines and cures, not to mention them to be complimentary. To be specific, one can find a plethora of data on a certain medical problem at no cost which is a big plus for those who are needy.
Positive as it may seem, I, on the whole, view this trend to be a negative one for two chief reasons. The first and most essential one is that treatments or prescriptions received online cannot be reliable. This is because there are a myriad of online scams which tend to make people go astray by diagnosing a wrong treatment. This, in turn, can have a detrimental impact on their health. A further negative consequence of seeking medicinal assistance online is that they are not as effective as visiting doctors in-person. The reason for this is that unlike online diagnosis and treatments, consultations given by physicians tend to be effective and monitored regularly to ensure patients are making improvements in their health. But it is an extremely rare case to experience such a condition online.
To conclude, the reasons why many people are prone to receiving medical help from different online platforms are twofold, yet I am still of the opinion that this turn of events is undesirable because of internet frauds and ineffectiveness of online remedies.
