IT'S NOT WHO I AM UNDERNEATH, BUT WHAT I DO, THAT DEFINES ME.
© Bruce Wayne (from Batman Begins)
Your true character is not defined by your thoughts, feelings, identity, background, or what you believe about yourself deep down.
It is defined by your
actions — what you actually do.
In other words:
- Who you are on the inside doesn’t matter as much as how you behave.
- Your choices and deeds are what truly show (and create) who you are.
- Identity follows action, not the other way around.
It’s a statement about responsibility and character: stop focusing on who you “really are” inside, and start focusing on what you consistently do.
