🇺🇿🇺🇸The United States has taken back some of the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from Uzbekistan
The helicopters were originally part of the Afghan Air Force and were delivered to Uzbekistan by Afghan pilots during the chaotic flight of U.S. troops from Afghanistan in 2021.
Among the aircraft flown from Afghan airbases to Termez airport in 2021 were Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano light attack aircraft, Pilatus PC-12NG multi-role aircraft, UH-60 Black Hawk and Mi-17 multi-role helicopters, and MD-530 light multi-role helicopters.
Uzbekistan has now transferred seven UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters to the US. The move has been confirmed by both Uzbek media and US officials.
The Pentagon has recognized these Black Hawk as serviceable, indicating that they have not sustained significant damage. The transfer process involved diplomatic negotiations to ensure that the transfer was conducted in accordance with international law and mutual agreements.
A far more important issue remains the fate of the Afghan pilots and personnel who fled to Uzbekistan, as many are still unable to find refuge or resettlement. Unfortunately, neither the Pentagon nor Washington is in a hurry to help in this matter.
