My life recently consists of reading, working, and welcoming our new members of Mizzou Family.
I still remember the day I arrived at my dormitory. Everything was unfamiliar, I felt like a toddler trying to figure out how to walk. Simple tasks became daunting. I even struggled to connect to the Wi-Fi, reach out to my parents and let them know I had safely arrived. Figuring out how to get my ID or even open my dorm room door felt overwhelming. I was stranded in a different country with zero survival skills.
But today, I found myself on the other side of that experience. Each year, as we welcome new students , I see how their journeys are becoming smoother. When I look at them, I see reflections of my younger self - nervous, anxious, excited, homesick, lost.
It’s a reminder that everyone starts somewhere as a beginner. It might take just a little time to get into the other side of the experience. Yet this time as a leader.
