There is a fact that not all museums and galleries charge admission fees. While free access helps societies expand their knowledge and strengthen bonds serving as cultural hubs, I strongly believe this form of accessibility poses more consequential challenges such as overcrowding and financial drain.
One significant advantage of free galleries and libraries is improved knowledge of individuals. If people are allowed to use resources in such places, they can easily get or enhance their knowledge, an opportunity that is sought after in this modern world where the vast majority of people struggle to find income and make ends meet, or even cover basic necessities, let alone enjoying the life and getting knowledge. These people who have such immense financial burdens are highly unlikely to invest in study or educational materials.
These places are also socially helpful when free of charge. As governing bodies are turning so many public places including green areas, playgrounds, and gardens into housing blocks, individuals are having difficulties to relax, hang out, relieve their stress, negotiate and to find places that are worth visiting to promote cultural knowledge and origins. If such institutions are free of charge, it may go hand in hand for people to navigate through these challenges quite easily.
However tempting such benefits sound, its negatives far outweigh these advantages in the long term. As soon as these artistic and knowledge spots are announced as free, this may appeal a great number of people, this leading to overcrowding inside these buildings. As a result, this may result in conflicts, if not physical fights, between visitors, resource depletion, or even potential difficulty in holding these 'guests'.
This can be exacerbated by financial pressures after a while. Unless visitors have to pay for entry, it means there is almost no flow of income coming in these places. This may place an immense burden on the responsible as they need to renovate, maintain, innovate, and pay for electricity and taxes, which is why this action seems not only impractical but also rather problematic.
In conclusion, despite the social and mental benefits of free entry to galleries and museums, I maintain that such free access seems more disadvantageous with the drawbacks ranging from overcrowding indoors and resource contamination to economical strains.
