#44 Describe an intelligent person you know

#54 Describe a friend from your childhood

While "intelligent" in English and "интеллигентный" in Russian may look similar, they are not the same in meaning.

1. Intelligent (English)

Means: smart, clever, able to think and learn quickly.

2. Интеллигентный (Russian)

Means: cultured, well-mannered. It refers more to behavior, upbringing, and manners, not just intelligence.

Nowadays, people are keeping pets at home more than before.
What are the reasons for this?
What can be done to protect people from the harm of pets?

The popularity of keeping pets at home has increased significantly in recent years. This essay will explore the main causes behind this trend and suggest measures to minimize the potential risks associated with pet ownership.

One major reason for the growing number of domestic pets is the increasing accessibility of pet-related services and products. Pet stores offer not only a wide variety of animals but also food, toys, and even fashionable clothing. This commercialization of pet ownership has made it more convenient and appealing for people to bring animals into their homes. To minimize the dangers pets may pose, several steps can be taken. For example, it is essential to educate current and prospective pet owners about responsible ownership. This includes information about hygiene and regular veterinary check-ups.

Another contributing factor is the influence of social media and celebrity culture. Well-known public figures often post pictures and videos with their pets, portraying them as integral parts of their lives. As a result, many fans are inspired to adopt similar animals. Unfortunately, this trend can have unintended consequences, particularly when pet owners are unaware of the potential health risks. Certain animals can carry parasites or transmit diseases if not properly cared for. Therefore, stricter regulations should be enforced to ensure that pets sold in shops are healthy and properly vaccinated. These actions would significantly reduce the risk of infections and other health issues affecting humans.

In conclusion, the rise in pet ownership can be attributed to the growing pet industry and the influence of public figures. However, by promoting responsible ownership and implementing stricter health regulations, the risks associated with pets can be effectively managed.

The line graph illustrates the number of people in the UK who owned dogs and cats between 1980 and 2015.

Overall, both figures showed an upward trend over the period. Notably, the number of dog owners was generally higher than that of cat owners, except at the end when the latter overtook the former.

To begin with dog ownership, the figure stood at approximately 15 million in 1980. It experienced minor fluctuations over the next decade, growing by 2 million in 1985 before dropping to 12 million in 1990. The figure had then surged to 45 million by the year 2000. However, this peak was followed by a gradual decline, with the number of dog owners falling to 39 million in 2015.

In contrast, the number of cat owners remained relatively stable at around 7 to 8 million from 1980 to 1990. By 1995, this figure had tripled to reach 21 million, matching the number of dog owners for the first time. Growth continued steadily over the next two decades, with cat ownership climbing sharply to 47 million in 2015, surpassing the number of dog owners.

#43 Describe a person you know who loves to grow plants

Pay attention that I will answer the second sub-question (what this person grows) with one-two sentences only.

I will just talk about cacti and orchids without describing the flowers in detail.

So many people find this cue card difficult but we don't have to talk much about flowers since the main question is to DESCRIBE A PERSON.

@ieltsboyko

PS, this story is also true. I never lie in part 2.

#42 Describe an article on health that you read online

+

#57 Describe a time when you shared something with others

Simple grammar can be enough to get 9.0 in speaking, but it has to be used accurately.
I will now use only two tenses - past simple and present simple.

I don't want to use past perfect continuous or conditional 3. They are absolutely unnecessary and unnatural in this section of the test

@ieltsboyko

PS, grammar isn't confined with tenses only. To demonstrate a wide range of grammar structures, we should use
• relative clauses
• compound sentences
• indirect speech
• passive voice etc

#41 Describe something given to you that you really wanted

+

#49 Describe an object that you think is beautiful

Adjectives!
It is highly recommended to use various adjectives in Speaking part 2.
In this answer of mine I used STYLISH, CONVENIENT, MINIMALISTIC, NOT SPORTY, RUBBER, NOT COSTLY etc
