TASK 1 - MAPS ⚠️
The provided maps demonstrate how West Park Secondary School was changed since its opening date in 1950.
Overall, what stands out is that while School and Playground remained somewhat unchanged over the years, School underwent many transformations as a result of the introduction of Car park, Science block and Sports field. It is also noteworthy that all the School premises were at the disposal of school goers in latter periods unlike in 1950, when it neighbored Farmland and Houses.
Looking at 1950 first, it is evident that to the west of the map, we could see Houses close to the School building on the top right corner. Whereas there was a Farmland below the Houses, Playground was located on the south-eastern corner adjoined with the School building.
After 30 years, in 1980, School was in a different form as Houses were replaced by a Car park and a Science block and the Farmland was converted into a Sports field. Despite these changes, both School campus, that was renamed to Main building, as well as the Playground on the left hand side kept their former spot.
In 2010, Car park was enlarged after the Sports field on the north-west was shortened, which also resulted in a smaller Playground for the School children. Of particular note is that School (Main building) and the Science block stayed at the same location untouched.
