As you can see, two major incorrect responses are in the Yes/No/Not Given task. We'll find out why i went wrong in some questions as well as why i found correctly rest of them
In the first 4 questions candidates are required to match certain names of people to their given suggestions in the text. So here is the copy of the task:
1. Without the use of synthetic fertilizers, large numbers of people would die of hunger (C)
2. We need agricultural methods that work for the environment (A)
3. In the future, the quantity of fertilizer used will be linked to predicted harvests (D)
4. The output from organic soils is very nearly equal to that from fields treated with chemical fertilizers (B)
List of people:
A Kenneth Cassman
B Bill Liebhardt
C Vaclav Smil
D Ron Olson
In the 7th paragraph of the text, Vaclav Smil suggests that "if farmers worldwide gave up the 80 million tones of synthetic fertilizer they now use each year, total grain production would fall by at least half. Either farms would have to double the amount of land they cultivate - at catastrophic cost to natural habitats - or billions of people would starve" 👇🏻
without the use of - gave up
large numbers of - billions of
starve - die of hunger
... so the correct answer is C✅
In the first paragraph of the text, Kenneth Cassman states that "Agriculture must become the solution to environmental problems in 50 years. If we don't have systems that make the environment better - not just hold the fort - then we're in trouble"👇🏻
... so the correct answer is A✅
In the last paragraph, Ron Olson suggests that " Eventually, farmers may incorporate long-term weather forecasts into their planning so they can cut back on fertilizer use when the weather is likely to make harvests poor"
... so the answer is D✅
In the 6th paragraph, Bill Liebhardt says that " ... and found that the organic fields averaged between 94 and 100 percent of the yields of nearby conventional crops"
... correct one is B✅
