📕Nowadays more people are choosing to socialize online rather than face-to-face.

🌳Is this a positive or negative development?

In today’s world many people prefer communicating online rather than in person. In my view, this phenomenon is more advantageous than disadvantageous.

🌴To start, online interactions result in many benefits. Firstly, this form of communication allows us to save a great deal of time as we no longer need to go through the trouble of arranging time and venue for the meeting and travel all the way there. Instead, we can have a video call and get to enjoy virtually the same conversation online. Another important advantage of conversing via messengers is that people can stay safe from contagious viruses such as COVID-19 by choosing this mode of communication. This is because in-person meetings always involve some sort of physical contact in the form of handshakes and hugs which can leave us vulnerable to the transmission of viruses.

🎄Some people, however, are under the impression that people lose their social skills if they are chronically exposed to online communications since not all of the communication skills are actively engaged when talking online. This means such skills as empathy will be practiced less often and will eventually disappear. As a result, the quality of many social relationships will be undermined and certain relationships may even go as far as breaking down. Nevertheless, I believe online interactions are not very different from real-life conversations, and just as many people skills are used when we have a Zoom talk with our friend as in a face-to-face conversation. Therefore, it is not logical to assume communicating online would lead to worsening social skills and poor relationships.

🌲In conclusion, the introduction of video calls and messengers has made our lives far easier than before and the benefits we get by using them to communicate with others are far more important than some minor issues they cause

1⃣1⃣. #Conditionals

In the IELTS Speaking test Part 3, you are more likely to be asked conditional sentences. A conditional sentence is a sentence that states one situation as a condition for the occurrence of another situation. To put it simply, the basic structure underlying most conditional sentences can be expressed as, “If this, then that.”

The most common conditional sentences covered in the IELTS Speaking test are the zero, first, and second conditionals.

i) Zero Conditionals

They are used to describe factual situations. Both clauses are in the simple present tense.

📝Examples:

When it rains, I take the bus.
If I work from home, I don’t get salary deductions.
I don’t eat breakfast if I am late for work.

ii) First Conditionals

They are used to express what will most likely happen in the future if a certain condition is met. The ‘if’ phrase is normally in the present tense, and the following clause frequently includes a verb such as ‘will,’ ‘can’, or ‘might,’.

📝Examples:

If I get the required band score for IELTS, I will migrate to Canada.
If I get promoted at work, I might buy myself a new car.
I can bring my family to the UK if I get the required band score in IELTS.

iii) Second Conditionals

They are used to express an improbable circumstance. The ‘if’ phrase is in the past tense, whereas the following clause frequently includes a verb such as ‘would’ or ‘could’.

📝Examples:

If I were the mayor of our city, I would ban the use of plastics.
If I won the lottery, I could afford not to work.
I would give everyone a pay increase if I were rich.

⭐️ Playing team sports is good for children to prepare for working life or not. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

⚡️Model Answer:
Band:
7.5
Words: 296

✍🏻 Some believe that playing team sports can be beneficial to teenagers' future career achievements while others hold the view that it is completely useless. Both sides of the argument will be discussed in this essay, followed by my own perspective on this matter.

On the one hand, people think that participating in team sports can enhance children's communication skills and make them become better team players. For example, activities like playing basketball and soccer require youths to communicate well with teammates from different educational and cultural backgrounds, which can equip youngsters with interpersonal skills before they enter the workforce. Getting along with workmates is one of the most essential contributors to one's career achievements. Further, collaboration ability fostered by joining multiplayer games is vital to one's employment prospects as well. It is very common that people need to cooperate with their colleagues on team projects, being able to generate strategies and collaborate with co-workers are key factors to success.

On the other hand, opponents argue that these games can hardly contribute to individuals' occupational achievements. Firstly, students can merely learn academic knowledge and professional skills from playing team games. Therefore, it is better for school-age children to utilize their time on studying more practical subjects such as mathematics and programming, which can ensure a more promising career and stable income. Additionally, some players tend to be overly competitive and outcome-oriented since the thought of winning is extremely important is ingrained in their minds. This kind of attitude could bring pressure to co-workers and cause negative effects on the working environment.

In my opinion, while group sports can cultivate players great social skills and collaboration abilities, which is imperative to their occupational prospects, it is important not to be too serious and dedicated to these leisure activities

#Grammar
#Task1

The town’s infrastructure was minimal, with only a single road running through the center, accompanied by a few residential houses and a shop.

Grammar Structure Explanation:

1. "The town’s infrastructure was minimal,":
- "The town’s infrastructure" is the subject of the sentence.
"Infrastructure" refers to the basic physical structures (like roads and buildings) needed for the operation of the town.
- "Was minimal" is the predicate, where "was" is the past tense of the verb "to be," and "minimal" is an adjective describing the infrastructure as being very limited or basic.

2. "with only a single road running through the center,":
- "With" is a preposition introducing additional information about what the town’s minimal infrastructure consisted of.
- "Only a single road" is a noun phrase where "single" emphasizes that there was just one road.
- "Running through the center" is a participial phrase, where "running" (present participle) describes the action of the road, indicating that it extended across the center of the town.

3. "accompanied by a few residential houses and a shop.":
- "Accompanied by" is another participial phrase, where "accompanied" (past participle) means "existing or happening together with."
- "A few residential houses and a shop" is a noun phrase that specifies what else was present along with the road.

Simplified Explanation:

- The sentence describes the basic infrastructure of the town by listing what little it had: just one road and a few buildings. The main clause "The town’s infrastructure was minimal" sets the scene, and the additional details are introduced by prepositional and participial phrases that describe what exactly made up this minimal infrastructure.

Example Sentences:

- "The park was small, with only a few benches scattered around, surrounded by tall trees."
- This means the park was limited in size and had just a few benches, with trees around it.

- "The building was old, with cracks in the walls, accompanied by peeling paint."
- This means the building was in poor condition, with cracks and peeling paint together.

- "The village was remote, with no public transportation available, served only by a few dirt roads."
- This means the village was far from other places and had very limited access, with just a few dirt roads for travel.

Key Takeaway:

- This type of sentence uses participial phrases like "running through" and "accompanied by" to add descriptive details about the subject, in this case, the town's infrastructure. These phrases help paint a clearer picture of what the minimal infrastructure looked like.
