Here’s a recap of my unforgettable experience at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi!
I’ve been a UFC fan since 2018, ever since Khabib and Conor’s big fight. Not only do I keep up with the events, but I also watch the pre- and post-fight press conferences and countdowns. So, as you can imagine, attending a live UFC event was something I’d been looking forward to for years. This October, I finally made it happen.
I arrived in Abu Dhabi a few days before the fight, which gave me the chance to explore the city a bit. Abu Dhabi is stunning — with beautiful beaches, towering skyscrapers, and a vibrant mix of cultures, especially from Southeast Asia. When I reached Yas Island, where most of the big events take place, I was amazed by the atmosphere and luxury. It’s filled with high-end hotels, private villas, upscale restaurants, and gorgeous beaches. I almost forgot about the fight altogether for a moment!
The day before the fight, I went to Etihad Arena for the ceremonial weigh-ins. Being there in person felt entirely different from watching on TV; the energy and vibe of the place were incredible.
And then, fight day itself was something else! I’d bought a VIP ticket, so I had access to the exclusive VIP zone, which came with a ton of perks: comfortable seating, a reserved section for the weigh-in, pre-fight hospitality, meet-and-greets with UFC athletes, and much more. During the event, I got to meet some of the biggest stars, like Alexander Volkanovski, Arman Tsarukyan, Merab Dwalishvili, Yair Rodriguez, Diego Lopez, and Caio Borralho. The VIP experience is almost beyond words — you really have to be there to understand it.
As for the Etihad Arena and the crowd, all I can say is, there’s just no way to compare watching UFC live to seeing it on TV. The intensity and excitement are on another level entirely. I’m already planning to attend another UFC event next year, maybe in Europe or the U.S.
If any of you have the chance to go, don’t hesitate! It’s an experience you won’t forget.
