What do you think are the main advantages and disadvantages of shopping online?
As for advantages, I would certainly highlight saving money because we don’t have to travel anywhere when we’re shopping online. I would also say that the range of products can be impressive because we can order products from abroad. But if we mention disadvantages, I would definitely emphasize the fact that you cannot try, for example, clothing on before you decide to wear it for a long time. Whereas, when you go to a physical store, you can try it on and then buy it. So, that’s probably the main risk of shopping online.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of shopping at a big shopping center?
Well, if we go to a large shopping center, it takes a lot of time. We have to prepare for the trip, use transportation, and if we get hungry there, we also have to eat. So, there’s a lot of time spent on that experience, which may involve additional money as well. But the advantages can be significant because we can go there with people we love, like family members and friends. We can have nice conversations and maybe get advice from them to make the best purchase, as we can try on the products we want to wear, for example, for a long time.
What makes large shopping malls so popular?
Oh, I think it’s the marketing and the overall experience they create. Like I said, when we go to a large shopping mall, it’s not just about shopping itself, right? It’s how we do it and what we do during that process. There are cafes and restaurants now, and even playgrounds for children. They’re trying to build complexes where you can do so much and stay for a long time, making your shopping experience very sophisticated.
What are the benefits and drawbacks of consumerism for a large economy?
Well, for any economy, I guess consumerism can be quite an influential factor. The more people buy, the more people sell, and the more economic activity there is. So, I think it has a direct effect on the economic state of any country in general. When it comes to drawbacks, I guess these include wasting products and creating ecological risks associated with overspending.
Can consumption drive economic growth?
Sure, I think it does. Like I mentioned earlier, the more people buy, the more demand there is. But along with economic growth, there are associated risks and dangers related to the environment. Like I said earlier, we sometimes spend too much on products we don’t need, and we don’t recycle all of those products, which creates a very controversial situation.
