📆 This video was recorded almost 2 YEARS AGO, but we didn't publish at the time. Eli apparently wanted to release this video after two years as his shorts are doing great view-wise. These answers will be uploaded on his channel as shorts too. Although these are not the best answers, they are quite good. Give it a watch.

This post is from 2020

The customized notepads are from 2014 or 2015
.

I always tell my students to keep a notebook that they can carry with themselves, not those big bulky ones edu centers for advertisement. This way they always can take down useful words and phrases and revise them whenever they have a chance. Back in the days, I used to use these notebooks, which were small enough to keep them in my pocket.

As you can see, I never wrote the translation or definition of the word I am learning. Instead, I try to write a sentence of my own or find a sentence from a good dictionary that I can relate to.

❗️ 📦🟨 The boxes next to lines are there for a reason. This notebook is created with many language learning concepts in mind:

1 Spaced Repetition System
2 GoldList Method
3 Contextual Clues
4 Bidirectional Translation

Azizas aced the test ⬇️

After brushing up on her English, she could pull off an overall 7.5 🚀🚀

If you can maintaining your language skills, it doesn’t matter how many years go by, you can still do well in the test.

Congratulations, Aziza.

Four years ago, Aziza studied in my group (in 2020) and achieved an overall 7.0, and after four years she needed IELTS for her job. Ans she studied again and updated her score successfully after so many years.

Mubina studied in my groups for three months but took the test after some time the course was over. She nailed the test, scoring an overall 7.5 in her second attempt. Her previous score was 6.5.

Maxmud did go for a remark because he was confident he did well in Task 2 despite not being able to finish his Task 1.

He got the remark outcome. And the writing score was increased to 6.5.

DUNNING-KRUGER EFFECT

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias where individuals with low ability or knowledge in a particular area overestimate their own competence, while those with high ability tend to underestimate their competence.

I remember about this concept after every exam; students with poor performance on a test usually believe they performed well, whereas students who performed well believe they made several mistakes.

It is like your average football fan watching football, and saying wild things about what they would do if they were in the field.

Example: Joe Rogan is the Dunning-Kruger effect personified. Surrounding yourself with yes-men and sycophants amplifies the effect.
