The protection of endangered animals is a commonly discussed topic today. However, some people underestimate their presence in the earth, and believes that resources are being wasted on their preservation. This view is completely illogical and inhumane because I believe they are as important as humans in the terrestrial life.
Animals play an irreplaceably significant role in the maintenance of life on our planet. The terrestrial life survives due to collaboration and harmony: some animal species serve others as either a prey or a partner in a certain habitat. Crocodiles and a certain bird species can be a striking example for partnership, in which birds feed on leftovers of meat in crocodiles' teeth, providing teeth cleaning service. Similarly, humans cannot exist without animals, since some of them provide us with meat, while others serve us as a means of transport. Even, highly important drug tests are carried out on animals so that human patients will not be harmed. Harmony represents itself in bees, without which no plants would yield leading to the depletion of food resources and eventually extinction of humanity.
It is also unethical and inhumane to neglect endangered animals and watch them die out. The majority of species that are on the brink of disappearance are suffering from loss of habitat or climate change, both of which can be attributed to human activities. For example, polar bears are about to disappear from the earth's surface owing to ice melting, while the salmon are under threat because of overfishing. I believe humans should be responsible for their actions and merciful even if some species do not directly benefit them because the planet is not our inherited property.
In conclusion, animal extinction is not negligible, as it threatens human existence too. Even though people do not benefit from some endangered species, they are culprits for the suffering. Therefore, animals must be protected for our own maintenance in the earth and to compensate the damage we have caused.
