Did you know ?Giraffes are unique when it comes to sleep!
They typically sleep
only 30 minutes to 2 hours per day, and this is often broken into short naps of
5-10 minutes at a time. They sleep both at night and during the day, but they rarely sleep deeply because they need to stay alert for predators in the wild.
Interestingly, giraffes can sleep standing up or lying down, but they only lie down for about
5-10 minutes at a time when they enter a deeper sleep phase. This is because getting up quickly from a lying position is difficult for them, making them vulnerable.
