The chart illustrates how much coffee and tea were bought by Canada, UK, USA, and Germany in 2007.

Overall, while the UK, USA, and Germany imported more tea than coffee, Canada imported more coffee during the same period. The quantity of exported tea made a huge amount of exported beverage in the UK, USA, Germany while Canada bought mostly coffee throughout the same period.

The UK was the country which exported the biggest amount of tea in 2007, which was around 13,000 tonnes (t). However, the figure for coffee was only 7,000 (t). Similarly, the USA and Germany exported more tea than coffee, which was about 9,000 and 6,000 (t), respectively. The quantity of coffee exported by these countries was slightly lower — that was approximately 7,000 in the USA and 5,000 (t) in Germany.

In stark contrast, the amount of imported tea was just 2,000 (t); the figure for coffee doubled that, which was 8,000 (t) in Canada.

Some people think that when recruiting, companies should aim to take on people who are innovative and able to work independently while others consider they should recruit people who are able to work in a team and follow instructions.

Discuss both views and give your opinion.

It is important to take into account background work experience, abilities of workers for companies when recruiting new employees. For some people argue that individuals' independent skills are more crucial, yet others think that teams work and get along with colleagues should be prior requirements. In my view, people who are good at group work should be recruited.

In our unprecedentedly changing world, unique ideas and problem-solving skills are crucial for companies' employees. In order to be able to use the latest technologies and compete with rivals, businesses should recruit individuals who have new initiatives and specialized knowledge. For example, famous businessman and billionaire Elon Musk achieved several targets in AI technology and space exploration, mostly, his intelligence and leadership skills. Therefore, organizations could make a huge amount of profit and expand the range of products which are the main target of companies.

On the other hand, I believe that the recruitment of workers who are able to work with company members in cooperation could be more effective. If they discuss problems together, then they would find various solutions which could be used to improve productivity. Because, in this case, if one worker makes an error, others could notice it and suggest other better and workable ideas. For instance, in a football game playing with tactics and understanding each other among players might make more effort than one world-class athlete.

In conclusion, while individuals' talents make a significant impact on organisations' productivity, I argue that people who are good at work with their companions should be recruited by businesses.

Organizing tours to remote places and communities is becoming more and more popular.

Is it a positive or negative development for the local people and environment?

Due to unprecedented advancements in people's lifestyle it is possible and common to travel to foreign countries and islands, frequently. While it has several harmful effects for flora and fauna of the host area, local residents could create their own businesses.

Firstly, a large number of travellers to islands and remote natural areas could lead to the extinction of endangered animals and plants. Tourists use various facilities such as hotels and entertainment facilities that are often built at the expense of local species and plants' habitats. If wild animals lose shelter and food sources, then they cannot reproduce and survive. Additionally, a huge amount of waste could also be swallowed by wild species which is detrimental to animal health. For instance, now only about 20,000-30,000 polar bears are left in the wild as a result of business tours and expeditions which constantly cause noise pollution and displacement of these unique wild animals from the Arctic.

In contrast, this trend could be beneficial for local people who reside on islands and popular tourist destinations. They might offer their traditional foods and drinks to the tourists. Furthermore, they could rent out their homes to tourists. As a result, these kinds of offerings might help them to make a profit and be self-employed. It also helps them to broaden their worldviews as they communicate with people who visit from developed-world regions, improve local people's living standards, and could open up ways for better education.

In conclusion, despite having dangerous consequences for native species, regular tours are the best chance for local people to launch small businesses and gain a prosperous life.

Prison is the most effective punishment for people who commit crimes.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There are several ways to punish offenders for their illegal actions. It is argued that prison is the best method of punishment. I completely agree with this view for two reasons.

To begin with, this type of punishment might change the mindset of criminals. In prison, offenders are given different tasks and activities to spend their time efficiently. For instance, offenders are involved in educational and work-related tasks. During their time in jail, people receive life advice and take a time to make a significant change after being released. They would plan to unite with their family, friends, and other relatives and start working. Moreover, offenders could acquire how to be disciplined and how to divide their time for important events. During their punishment period, they are given certain tasks to complete in a power flush of limited time. As a result, they develop time management skills which are crucial in the afterwards goals for old prisoners.

Furthermore, if offenders are given job opportunities such as working in factories, they could learn a skill. This could be beneficial for them after being released. Therefore, they would be flexible and maybe they would like the work time. Offenders could possibly find a job opportunity based on their interests.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly agree prison is the better way of punishment because it could help offenders to change their habits and develop skills that are applicable for their future life.

Today many teenagers rely greatly on technology when learning.

Is this a positive or negative development?

Nowadays, due to significant changes in modern technologies communication and learning through portable gadgets are possible. Many teenagers are using up-to-date devices such as laptops and mobile phones during their learning period. While, this trend has many advantages like having access to wider academic resources and without extra expenses, it has drawbacks that could have detrimental effect individuals' health and communication traits.

As technologies are making our life easier, they also offer several conveniences for students. Firstly, the Internet helps learners to find the most crucial and suitable resources. Those materials often include engaging and interactive activities that make the learning process more easy and attractive. For instance, watching interesting documentaries and tutorials in foreign language is a more effective method to learn a new language. Moreover, if the children start to acquire knowledge with the help of advanced gadgets, they do not have to pay for transport, food, and other extra expenses. They can stay in their comfort zone without spending time to reach the education centre. It helps them to save their valuable time and money. Additionally, that is mostly appropriate for tight-budget families.

However, over dependency on technology leads to health problems in the study period. While, students are covering a particular topic that takes for a prolonged period that inactiveness in turn, could effect harmfully to the students' physical and mental state. Sedentary lifestyle would make individuals lazy as they prefer to do everything from their sitting place. Furthermore, as a result of less face-to-face interactions with others could cause in developing hostile behaviours to the teenagers. They might find it difficult to get along with new friends and they would be less capable of finding a solution for problems because of their communication weakness.

In conclusion, although advanced technologies have profound advantages - access free and valuable Internet facilities - in the learning process, they have negative impacts on the teenagers overall well-being and social behaviours.

Nowadays, people are working longer and harder in order to survive in a world that is experiencing unprecedented changes. There is a view that the sole reason for hard work is to make more money. Money could be the main intention for some people. However, I believe that there are other merits of hard work rather than just financial purposes.

It is true that most people spend too much time and effort to gain financial independence and constant job position. In order to purchase a private house and car, they work with only one intention, while they do not appreciate their colleagues and the period of time they live. Moreover, people often fail to build a friendly atmosphere in their workplace. The main reason is that they always try to improve their reputation. The desire for a higher position prevents them from working in a collaborative and energetic work team.

However, I believe that hard work has many advantages for people than just financial gains. People who spend extended time in their job could create a supportive and friendly atmosphere, in addition to that they could acquire new skills and develop confidence about their profession. If individuals work together for a long time, they confront challenges and critical situations that make them closer in a group to find solution problems and these might foster team collaboration. Furthermore, hard work plays a crucial role in developing abilities and skills as people focus on specific tasks for an extended period of time. They are more likely to be specialists because of their long-term experiences. For instance, doctors who work with the same issues multiple times and for a prolonged period, then they could solve the challenge with their special methods.

In conclusion, there are people who tend to work lengthy hours solely with the aim of money, but I believe that others work extensively to be better in their profession and find a helpful team.
