Forgot to post this result yesterday 📌

Timur studied in my offline group for a couple of months and had to retake IELTS to see an increase from his initial 6.0 📈

He shared this result yesterday, showing an amazing 7.5 overall, which is sufficient for him at the moment. He and his friends already had a good level of English when they joined my course, so I was only helping to make small adjustments related to exam-taking skills.

In January, three or four offline groups will be available for those who want to study STANDARD AND 7+ GROUPS 📌 More information on that to be available later.

Congratulations to Timur one more time.

Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists but not local people. Why is this the case and what can be done to attract more local people to visit these places?

Numerous museums and historical monuments are primarily visited by tourists from different parts of the world but not locals. This happens due to human nature and lack of appreciation for easy access and cheap prices in both museums and historical sites. To make locals more interested and appreciative, access to heritage sites must be made more expensive and there should be social media promotion to increase interest in local sightseeing.

Naturally, local residents are not as excited as tourists about local facilities, including historical destinations and museums. This is especially true when there is an abundance of such sites, instilling an idea that such infrastructure is not special. In Uzbekistan, for instance, nearly every major city has a lot to offer with regard to heritage cites, with Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva being a testament to this claim. However, anyone who visits historical locations in those regions can usually note that the majority of visitors there are tourists. It must also be mentioned that tourists often pay more to access these facilities, while locals have discounts and occasional free passes.

Paying less or not paying at all may convince people that they should not appreciate the experience as much as they would if it were more expensive. Therefore, prices for entering any heritage sites must be equal if not more for locals. This can effectively change their attitude to local sightseeing destinations. Yet, simply focusing on the financial aspect may not be the only answer, as people need to be more aware of the local history, too. This can be done by investing in social media awareness by promoting impressive video content that displays the beauty and the importance of history for locals.

In conclusion, it is true that locals do not always value local museums and ancient sites, meaning there has to be a way to change their attitude towards such facilities. As indicated above, this attitude change can be possible through financial changes and social media promotion.

Currently, I have samples for all recent PBI questions given in December, November and October of this year. To make my upcoming writing course more interesting, I will use more real exam questions like these ⬇️

1) Some people say that the main aim of advertising is to improve the sales of products that people do not really need. To what extent do you agree or disagree? (March, 2024)

2) Consumers are faced with an increasing number of advertising by competing companies. To what extent do you think consumers are affected? What measurements can be taken to tackle the problem? (March, 2024)

3) Many people believe that it is easier to have a healthy lifestyle in the countryside. Others believe that there are health benefits of living in cities. Discuss both views and give your opinions. (March, 2024)

4) Many young people do not spend their holidays and weekends doing outdoor activities like hiking and climbing in natural environments. Why is this the case? How can they be encouraged to go out? (April, 2024)

5) Directors of large organizations earn much higher salaries than ordinary employees do. Some people think it is necessary, but others are of the opinion that it is unfair. Discuss both these views and give your opinion. (April, 2024)

This approach will help to prepare for totally different questions, increase awareness of more general topics (consumerism, environment, economics, etc.) and benefit from practicing some difficult topics beforehand 🖥

The deadline to sign up for this new course is tomorrow (Friday) 14:00 ❗️

The first lesson will take place at 20:30 tomorrow 🔜

Despite better education, some adults are unable to write and read. What are the disadvantages these people are having? What should the governments do to avoid this?

Although access to education has been enhanced in the past few decades, there are still adults who cannot read or write. Illiteracy can often result in lower quality of life, forcing these individuals to take blue-collar jobs and exposing them to more deception as they may not process information effectively. The solution is to make education compulsory, by focusing more on tackling absenteeism.

Learning hard and soft skills often involves being literate, meaning people have to excel when they need to write or read. However, those who lack this basic ability may not stand out in the highly competitive job market of the 21st century. This inferiority often leaves illiterate adults no other choice than to do the most physically demanding and low-paid jobs. As a result, they cannot enjoy any progress in their career, relying on a blue-collar job for a living.

The other obvious disadvantage illiterate adults often face is the inability to cope with written information. Since they cannot understand what’s shown on paper or online, they may ask for help, but this help may not always be beneficial. In other words, illiterate adults are easier to deceive, making them more likely to suffer from fraud. This can significantly affect their lives in many ways, as they depend on others when it comes to processing information.

The most effective solution to reduce illiteracy among people is to make sure absenteeism is tackled properly. Quite often, there is access to education, but supervision is not rigorous enough, meaning there is too much informality in school education. If every student’s attendance is tracked effectively, with punishments available for those who continuously skip classes, there may be more active participation in school activities. If the country’s absenteeism rates are extremely high, the government should use additional force by forming a new committee that focuses solely on student attendance.

In conclusion, life of an illiterate individual may be more economically challenging and more dangerous as a whole. To make sure fewer people are illiterate, absenteeism has to be met with highly strict measures, helping to keep younger people in school.

As you know, there was a really interesting essay topic given on the latest PB test in Tashkent (December 14) and many of my students asked to write a sample for it (and I obviously didn't say no) 😎

Illiteracy is actually a common topic in IELTS and I saw a few reading passages related to it. For the following sample, I had 3 key ideas and divided them in 3 main bodies. The issue of absenteeism was the most important factor to mention, and I hope students included something similar in their real exam experience.

@dilshodbekravshanov 🖥

The score my sample gets is probably a realistic 8/9/8/8, with CC being my best feature as usual. Check it out ⬇️

Another great CD result from my offline student Fayzullo ⚡️ He actually got his initial result yesterday and immediately appealed to see his writing or speaking go up 🧨

In around 24 hours, his EoR check was completed and we now see that his writing was reevaluated, meaning his overall score is now 8.0 📈

I always love successful EoR stories, especially when the overall score increases this way. I thank Fayzullo for choosing my course and taking his preparation serious. His curiosity and work ethic definitely played the key role in getting this score 🔝

Crime is more prevalent in poor neighbourhoods and low-income areas. Why is this the case? How can crime be reduced?

It is often noted that the crime rate is higher in poorer neighbourhoods than in those with higher income levels. Wealth inequality and human nature can explain why this development takes place, meaning the key solutions should be related to new infrastructure and jobs that should be created in low-income areas.

Those living in poor areas are usually people below the poverty line, with scarce opportunities to enjoy a good quality of life. Their neighbourhoods can lack essential features such as schools and hospitals, which are normally available elsewhere. This means people are usually less educated and not as healthy when they reside in unprivileged regions. Coupled with desperation, such a living could make more people enter a life of crime as a last resort to earn money and survive. Richer people, on the other hand, may be less interested in crime because they may not have any issues fulfilling basic needs.

Since crime takes place mostly out of desperation, the only effective way to prevent crime in poor areas is by transforming those regions by using sufficient investment. This spending should guarantee the construction of new schools and a few other fundamental facilities that can boost the quality of life among the locals. One more similarly essential change should be the focus on creating as many jobs as possible so that residents of poor areas can have more opportunities to earn an income and live a sustainable life.

In conclusion, it is clear that those living in financially disadvantaged areas are more likely to commit a crime as they may not have other opportunities for survival. Thus, governing bodies have to transform these areas to make sure locals have access to education, health services and new jobs.

Services and Consumerism 🔠

What do you think are the main advantages and disadvantages of shopping online?
As for advantages, I would certainly highlight saving money because we don’t have to travel anywhere when we’re shopping online. I would also say that the range of products can be impressive because we can order products from abroad. But if we mention disadvantages, I would definitely emphasize the fact that you cannot try, for example, clothing on before you decide to wear it for a long time. Whereas, when you go to a physical store, you can try it on and then buy it. So, that’s probably the main risk of shopping online.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of shopping at a big shopping center?
Well, if we go to a large shopping center, it takes a lot of time. We have to prepare for the trip, use transportation, and if we get hungry there, we also have to eat. So, there’s a lot of time spent on that experience, which may involve additional money as well. But the advantages can be significant because we can go there with people we love, like family members and friends. We can have nice conversations and maybe get advice from them to make the best purchase, as we can try on the products we want to wear, for example, for a long time.

What makes large shopping malls so popular?
Oh, I think it’s the marketing and the overall experience they create. Like I said, when we go to a large shopping mall, it’s not just about shopping itself, right? It’s how we do it and what we do during that process. There are cafes and restaurants now, and even playgrounds for children. They’re trying to build complexes where you can do so much and stay for a long time, making your shopping experience very sophisticated.

What are the benefits and drawbacks of consumerism for a large economy?
Well, for any economy, I guess consumerism can be quite an influential factor. The more people buy, the more people sell, and the more economic activity there is. So, I think it has a direct effect on the economic state of any country in general. When it comes to drawbacks, I guess these include wasting products and creating ecological risks associated with overspending.

Can consumption drive economic growth?
Sure, I think it does. Like I mentioned earlier, the more people buy, the more demand there is. But along with economic growth, there are associated risks and dangers related to the environment. Like I said earlier, we sometimes spend too much on products we don’t need, and we don’t recycle all of those products, which creates a very controversial situation.

Malika and Diana are friends who attended the same course of mine for 3 months. They had the same desks, talked a lot during the lesson but that didn’t prevent them from being productive 🔥

7.5 and 7.0 (both taking the test for the first time) are great results that made my Monday evening much better 🎸

I thank ladies for their participation in the course and patience with all the materials I’ve printed and shared for many weeks. They can now focus on other things in life and forget about IELTS for a while or forever 😂

Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

There is a view that people living in the 21st century have too many choices. Generally, this is true since globalization has transformed most parts of the world economically, providing people with more opportunities. However, considering the differences in political systems in certain countries and the rising wealth inequality, it can be deduced that some people do not have as many options as others.

Globalization has made the world more connected than ever before, allowing nations to cooperate economically. This process includes open borders and increased migration, meaning moving from one place to another is not as restricted as it was decades ago. In fact, some countries offer dual citizenship and do not require a visa for entry. Economically, corporations can now open new branches in different parts of the world, offering locals a range of products. In my native Uzbekistan, there are already multiple branches of popular brands such as Nike, Costa Coffee, KFC, and Papa John's, to name a few. It is worth mentioning that these brands employ locals, meaning they create jobs.

With regard to the most important decisions people can make, most of them definitely have a wider variety to choose from. In education, for instance, students can now choose from up to or over a hundred institutions, depending on the major they want to pursue—an opportunity that was not available to many of our ancestors. Technology-wise, there is an unprecedented number of gadgets one could buy, often causing decision fatigue. Even in the world of entertainment, there seems to be too much diversity, with thousands of musicians and movies available to keep people entertained on a regular basis.

Nevertheless, it would be an overstatement to claim that the entire world enjoys a life full of choices. Politically, there are major differences in certain parts of the world, with North Korea being an example of a state adhering to communism. It is often reported that North Koreans cannot travel outside their country, meaning they have limited freedoms. This example suggests that people’s increasing or decreasing number of options depends on the political framework of their country.

Another factor to highlight is the widening gap between the rich and the poor. It is rational to believe that one’s options are as large as one's budget, but in some parts of the world, poor people are becoming poorer. This may be considered a consequence of capitalism or the officials’ inability to sustain the country economically. Either way, the truth is that a certain proportion of people do not have the resources to enjoy a variety of choices.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that the majority of the world’s population now has access to a larger number of options, ranging from making decisions related to education and travel to entertainment and shopping. Yet, "majority" does not mean "all," as millions of people lack the freedom and financial means to afford many choices.

This was a really interesting topic when Cambridge 13 came out ✏️

A lot of people were confused and many will call this topic one of the most difficult they have ever seen, and that's mainly because it is simply too vague. Specific topics are easier to understand, but this one will have many people guessing. Which choices? Is it about education or technology? Or maybe it's about marketing and freedom?

See, the thing is, it is up for your interpretation, but to play it safe, I would write 400+ words in an essay like this to make sure the examiner sees sufficient argumentation and multiple examples.
