Talked with prof. Monica Menendez today (her linkedin) through Scholars Lunch program (basically you can sign up to have lunch with the profs).
At nyuad her work is centered around traffic flow and how people move, so it was fun to talk about modular vehicles (in the picture). She also gave explanations on why it’s not a good idea to move the capital to a smaller city, or move the institutions to other cities (in long term, the people would follow the move). Also, we talked about the so-so state of the public transport in Uzbekistan.
For a while she worked at Bein - one of the top 3 consulting firms in the world along with McKinsey and BSG). And I made sure to know as much about consulting as possible. The field sounds extremely interesting + good fit for me - you get to learn and know about the most random stuff. I fell in love with the description. Ofc, downsides are there (crazy hours + no life), but I assume they pay accordingly.
Might go in that direction in the future, but I have to work like crazy to even be able to dream about consulting.
