Barsa-Kelmes, Karakalpstan!

Found these photos in my gallery from the September of 2024. The journey was ardous, but the views creating a Mars-like atmosphere compensated for each drop of sweet from that 17-hour plascard train-ride.

You might wonder how we "came back" from Barsa-Kelmes (No Return). Well, we did, physically. Though when we came back, we weren't the same people we were. Tired. Shoes filled with bitter grians of salt. Caffeine-deficient. Dehydrated. And above all, Enlightened.

cold winter, and we live in the coldest and the most snowy area of Uzbekistan.

the snow is already above the knee level. I am at school, finishing the second subject on that day. I still have 3 more but I am thinking about leaving the school today with some excuses to watch Winnetou, which is scheduled to be broadcasted at 10:45am.

If i leave now, I will manage to get to the supermarket and buy some chips and “кириешки” with the money my mom gave me to buy some “пигоди” at school.

well, пигоди is irresistible but can you really watch Winnetou without кириешки? Especially without those square shaped, bitter, crispy ones? I would also consider taking пигоди to home but I live a km away from the school and I would never spend any money on transportation. Matter of fact, I would love walking as it gives me time to wonder about things.

I would go home by the rail side. It is much more fun with an open field and a companion. The road side is just too noisy with all those cars going for camping or just visiting mountain side.
