I completely agree with him.
In my recent experience with IELTS, I got 8.
not gonna lie, I was really surprised.
I took the exam 3 times overall. The first two times I got 7 and My speaking score was oy 6.5. I have used plenty of complicated phrases and grammar. I have added band 9 words which I have memorized like a robot, and I tried to speak fast, thinking it would help with my fluency. And still got 6.5 from speaking. The same goes for my writing.
Last time, I was taking the test just for fun. I did not prepare myself for it. When I was having a conversation with the examiner, I was calm and answered questions without rushing and explaining them in detail but with very simple words, heck I even made some grammar mistakes. But that was okay.
I got 7,5 to my surprise. So I guess. Just be natural, improve your general English and just talk freely. That’s it.
You will get there. Just cut out all the bullshit band 9 words and extra complicated sentences. And express yourself freely in a way you can.
And crush your tests😀
