The maps detail the transformation of the coastal town of Pebbleton from a more isolated old town to a more modernized town over the last twenty years.

Overall, the town of Pebbleton has become more residential with the development of new houses, a community center and a block of flats at the expense of unused land and film studio and more recreational with the introduction of a tennis court and a playground for children. The construction of the footbridge made the journey to the school easier for the islanders, improving its accessibility. Meanwhile, the main roads, playing field, lighthouse and school remained unchanged.

All of the major changes have taken place on the island. The old fort to the North has been converted into children’s playground, just next to it, there has been the erection of a new community center. Along the coastline to the North, the number of houses has been increased, replacing the wasteland. The conversion of a film studio into a block of flats with the removal of the fences around it and development of a new tennis court, flanked by footpath and lighthouse lane were next striking changes.

There has not been any significant change on the mainland except for the newly built footbridge, connecting the school to the island: all the trees and the main road have been kept intact for twenty years.

The maps detail the alterations to the area around the museum over a half-century.

Overall, the museum underwent significant changes between 1957 and 2007, becoming more accessible with construction of a car park, recreational with the addition of a café, a museum shop and versatile with the introduction of a new exhibition and education facilities at the expense of trees. Another striking point is that the entrance was relocated to the museum shop while the path leading to the old entrance hall and the trees in the southern-west were removed.

Overall, the island, which used to be a more intact place specialized in scientific research, has become more recreational with the development of leisure facilities at the expense of trees and wasteland while the only unchanged features were the natural spring and rocks to the North. Plus, the infrastructure and transportation improved with the introduction of a new cycling project and more advanced transportation and the expansion of the harbor to the West.
