People have different views as to whether economic success can co-exist with a clean and healthy environment. While economic growth is likely to present serious environmental problems, I believe that it is ultimately beneficial for the natural environment.

Critics of economic development cite various reasons to support their stance. When countries prioritize developing economically, they often carry out infrastructural expansions like new roads, skyscrapers, and factories, all of which require the removal of forests and green spaces, as well as the destruction of natural habits. This process not only increases the amount of greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere but also endangers multiple species of wild animals and plants, thereby worsening air quality and biodiversity. In a world where environmental issues like air pollution, ozone layer depletion, and animal extinction have spiraled out of control, the focus on economic development might further deplete natural resources, disrupt ecosystems, and accelerate the adverse effects of climate change.

However, in my view, it is possible to strike a harmonious balance between economic prosperity and environmental sustainability. If governments continue to increase their GDP and generate revenue, they are likely to make progress across various fields like transport, manufacturing, science and technology, which paves the way for the development of green technologies like electric cars, renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, sustainable land management practices, and efficient public transport networks. These advancements allow them to conserve invaluable natural resources and minimize greenhouse gases, potentially promoting ecological integrity and environmental recovery. A case in point is my home country of Uzbekistan, where economic success has enabled local authorities to implement effective waste management techniques like recycling, alleviating the greenhouse effect and improving the quality of air.

In conclusion, although legitimate concerns exist regarding the impact of economic growth on air quality and biodiversity, I contend that the economic objectives of a country do not interfere with its environmental values. Only by harnessing the power of economic expansion can we make strides in terms of land management, waste disposal, resource consumption, and energy usage.

The relationship between success and luck is now a topic of considerable debate. While some argue that the accomplishment of our goals is predominantly determined by how lucky we are, I believe that hard work and perseverance play a more crucial role when it comes to success.

Proponents of luck cite various reasons to support their stance. They assert that if a child is born into a wealthy family with abundant resources, he or she has access to better academic materials, electronic gadgets, mentorship programs, and networking opportunities than those born into lower-class or middle-class households, thus offering them a competitive edge in the educational and professional landscape. Similarly, some individuals are gifted with a charismatic personality and a sense of humor, both of which empower them to get along with others and forge stronger relationships with colleagues or business partners, leading to greater social support and encouragement.

However, despite these arguments in favor of luck, strong work ethics and perseverance usually dictates whether someone achieves their aspirations in life. When people work hard and stay perseverant, irrespective of formidable obstacles, they are more likely to not only make progress in their field of expertise but also gain trust and recognition in their workplace circles. Without the ability to step outside of their comfort zones and push their limits, even those with ample resources and attractive qualities find it difficult to meet tight deadlines and manage heavy workloads, affecting their ability to move up the career ladder and make money. A case in point is Elon Musk, the richest man on the planet. Were it not for his unwavering determination and unparalleled resilience, it would have been almost impossible for him to bounce back from the early rocket failures at SpaceX, overcome the bureaucratic difficulties at Neuralink, and deal with the financial losses at Tesla.

In conclusion, whether someone turns their aims into reality is in some cases a matter of luck, but it is hard work and perseverance that ultimately determine how successful someone becomes. Only by pushing past personal boundaries and striving for excellence can we make strides in terms of our career growth, financial stability, and overall success.

It seems clear that obesity in today’s society is to some extent due to the availability of fast food.
Should governments place a tax on fast food to reduce the amount of fast food consumed?

Obesity has become a common problem in western societies and this is partly due to the availability of fast food at low prices. To tackle this problem, it has been suggested that governments should increase the tax on fast foods in order to reduce the amount of pre-cooked meals consumed. I personally believe that this is a sound idea, because especially young people, who have less money, will be discouraged from buying food at quick service restaurants.

The main reason for the high consumption of junk food is that it is a cheap alternative to healthy meals. A salad for example often is twice as expensive as a burger, resulting in more people eating the burger than the salad. As a result, people prepare fewer meals themselves and eat more mass-produced food instead. In my opinion, it should not be possible to sell fast food at a lower price than staple food. By making takeaway meals more expensive than vegetables and fruit, people would change their eating habits, as they would want to save money.

Another way to reduce consumption of fast food would be to prohibit its promotion. A similar approach was taken in terms of advertising cigarettes and one can say that this approach has been successful to some extent. Additionally, commercials for fast food often target young children through offering inducements, such as the toys in the happy meal at McDonalds for example. The children are persuaded to demand a happy meal, yet often do not necessarily want to eat the food contained in it. The only thing they want is the toy. If advertising junk food were forbidden, the number of children consuming pre-cooked meals would be reduced and therefore the number of obese children would decrease as well.

In conclusion, governments should put a tax on fast food to reduce the amount consumed in order to decrease the number of obese people. By placing a tax on fast food and making it more expensive than healthy raw foods, people would began to eat more healthily. If additionally the advertising of quick service restaurants were banned, the number of obese people would decrease even more drastically.

Turn over a new leaf - to alter your behavior in a positive way, to start fresh.
(hayotida) yangi sahifa ochmoq

Apparently he's turned over a new leaf and he's not smoking any more.

1. Please avoid using words like ‘some’, ‘something’ and ‘thing’ in formal essays. They are too vague and make little contribution to the message of the text.
2. ‘And’ was used 13 times in this text. Two things: first of all, try to use synonyms for that, e.g. ‘as well as’, ‘and also’ and others. Secondly, avoid using two conjunctions in the same clause, like here: “… a rough time studying and working and lack of rest”
3. “I will/would like to outline this problem”
4. We need a comma here to introduce the same part of speech, in this case gerund: “They spend most of their time sitting, probably not paying attention”.
5. “The lack” is used twice, it could be easily replaced with the phrase “insufficient amount of” in this particular context to avoid word repetition.
6. You probably meant “social ties” here
7. Phrased like this, it feels like doctors should discuss that among themselves. I believe the idea was to establish a dialogue between pupils and doctors. If that is the case, then: “… doctors at schools should encourage pupils to talk about their health”
8. I would suggest phrases like ‘highlight’, “stress the importance of”.

In some countries young people have little leisure time and are under a lot of pressure to work hard in their studies.

What do you think are the causes of this? What solutions can you suggest?

Nowadays there are some¹ regions where teenagers experience a rough time studying and² working and lack of rest. In my essay I would outline this problem³ and discuss possible solutions.

Firstly, this problem affects the health of young people. They spend most of their time sitting⁴ probably not paying attention to their posture. Such lifestyle is dangerous because one experiences the lack⁵ of fresh air and internal organs are displaced which might cause their diseases. The lack⁵ of oxygen makes the brain work slower and decreases attention which badly affects studying. Secondly, teens who do not have leisure time for meeting friends may suffer from psychological problems. Their social bands⁶ might be quite weak because they do not practise communication. It may cause low self-esteem and the feeling of loneliness which can lead to depression.

However, there are some¹ solutions. For example, doctors at schools should discuss pupils’ health⁷. They can provide interesting and useful tips for staying healthy and outline⁸ the role of sport. There have to be developed sport sections and facilities to encourage students to move. Moreover, schools should organise exciting events to bring students closer together which will stimulate social communication and the emergence of friendship relations. There also has to be a cabinet of free psychological help if one experiences a crisis.

All in all, because of work and studying young people experience problems with health and mind but they can be solved by schools which might give such abilities and opportunities.

Details of politicians’ private lives should not be published in newspapers. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is thought that the information regarding politicians’ personal lives should not be shared in print media. This essay strongly agrees with this suggestion because publishing these details could be harmful to their families, and obtaining this type of information might require breaking the law.

First and foremost, what makes that the details related to private aspects of politicians’ lives should not be shared in newspapers is that it could be harmful not only to these individuals but also to their families. This is because revealing some details from their personal lives could expose them to unwanted comments or allegations, which might lead to a great deal of distress. In Poland, for instance, in 2015, the vice-prime minister committed suicide due to not handling the pressure caused by the paparazzi invading his and his family’s private life.

Furthermore, obtaining this type of information, in most cases, means breaking the law. This is because the right to privacy is one of the most fundamental policies in society, and anyone who wants to access the lives of politicians must obtain their consent. However, not only are paparazzi hired to invade properties belonging to politicians to take photos without their permission, but also politicians’ colleagues and relatives are bribed to share confidential facts from their lives. For instance, an accident in which Princess Diana was killed was partly caused by the paparazzi who followed her car, trying to take photos of her and her boyfriend against their will.

In conclusion, I strongly support the suggestion that politicians’ lives should not be subject to the interest of newspapers because revealing personal facts from politicians lives could destroy their family life and the process of obtaining these details often required wrongdoing.

Some people think that parents should teach their children how to be good members of society. Others, however, believe that school is the best place to learn this. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Some people believe that children should be taught by their parents about how to function as useful members of society, while others believe that sending children to educational institutions is the best way for them to study this. Although the latter opinion can be beneficial in some cases, I believe that family upbringing plays a more important role in educating children to be good parts of the community.

Schools can be considered suitable places for children to learn to be good citizens. With standardized educational methods, schools can foster children’s cognitive development so that they are able to contribute to society in the future. For example, Trung Vuong school and Vinschool are well known for having nurtured successful alumni such as Professor Ngo Bao, Professor Nguyen Hung who have devoted their talents to the development of the country. However, these people only represent a small fraction of the total number of students attending schools, and thus sending children to schools cannot be the best method of educating them to be good members of society.

I believe that parents play a more important role in teaching them how to be good citizens. In Vietnam, the average class size is 20 students, which makes it difficult for educators to provide proper schooling for each student. One to one lessons at home, on the other hand, allow children to progress faster. Furthermore, parents form stronger bonds with their offspring and thus, it is easier for them to shape children’s personalities at an early age. For example, by telling stories such as Robin Hood, Cinderella before bedtime, parents can instil a sense of compassion and integrity into them. These children are likely to become good members of society when they grow up.

In conclusion, although sending children to schools can be seen as a way of teaching them how to be good citizens, I believe that domestic upbringing has a bigger impact on determining who they are in the future.

People have different views as to whether free libraries should be constructed in towns or if such initiatives are a waste of resources given the accessibility of information online. While the financial implications of building free libraries cannot be overlooked, I believe that investing in these institutions is vital for societal development.

Critics of free library construction cite various reasons to support their stance. If countries choose to put this idea into practice, they have to cover substantial expenses associated with sourcing sustainable construction materials, employing specialized labor, and maintaining these facilities. Such financial commitments could detract from funding essential public services like schools and hospitals, ultimately diminishing residents' quality of life. This concern is particularly pronounced in developing countries, where citizens already struggle with poor public service performance and substandard living conditions. Considering the widespread availability of digital resources like archived newspapers, audio recordings, academic journals, and online textbooks, diverting funds to libraries may jeopardize a nation's economic stability and investment capacity.

Despite these valid concerns, in my view, the establishment of free libraries is crucial. By creating accessible spaces dedicated to reading and learning, governments can inspire individuals to integrate reading into their daily lives. With the help of reading clubs, workshops, and community events, libraries are likely to foster a culture of literacy that enhances critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. While the internet serves as a valuable tool for information retrieval, it usually functions as a platform for social interaction and personal recreation rather than a primary source of knowledge acquisition.

In conclusion, while the financial burden of establishing free libraries is considerable, I advocate for this initiative due to its potential effects on literacy and learning. Investing in such facilities not only enriches individual lives but also strengthens the fabric of society as a whole.

In an era characterized by cross-cultural misunderstandings and misinterpretations, many linguists call for the creation of a new language to facilitate international communication. While the invention of a universal language could indeed promote cultural exchange and global understanding, I believe that its potential drawbacks outweigh the benefits.

Proponents of a universal language cite various reasons to support their stance. If a dominant language is constructed for international use, it could effectively dismantle communication barriers among individuals from diverse cultural and national backgrounds, thereby allowing them to forge stronger social connections and business partnerships. This process may encourage people from different nationalities and cultures to share their unique perspectives, along with their traditional values and local customs, which would serve as a powerful catalyst for fostering mutual appreciation and cultural awareness. In a world where religious intolerance, ethnic bias, and cultural discrimination reign supreme due to a lack of shared understanding, the introduction of a universal language could make a big difference when it comes to bringing everyone together and cultivating a more empathetic international community, ultimately leading to greater peace and harmony worldwide.

Despite these arguments, in my view, the disadvantages of establishing a global language are far more significant. The creation of a new universal language would require a great deal of time and effort to master, posing substantial challenges for individuals with busy schedules and limited access to educational resources. As a result, a linguistic gap may ensue, perpetuating existing inequalities and exacerbating feelings of disenfranchisement and marginalization. At a time when many struggle to enhance their proficiency in their native languages due to insufficient academic materials and time constraints, the added pressure to learn a universal language could intensify challenges related to financial resources and time management.

In conclusion, although the development of a new universal language has the potential to break down communication barriers and unite individuals from diverse backgrounds, I argue that the difficulties associated with time management and limited resources would deter marginalized groups from effectively mastering such a lingua franca.
