Solutions ✅

Pleural effusion is one of the common causes of pleuritic chest pain. The pleural effusion can be benign or malignant.
Various imaging modalities have different sensitivity to detect pleural effusion.
Minimal amount of fluid required to be detected on PA radiograph- 100-200ml.
Minimal amount of fluid required to be detected on lateral radiograph- 75ml.
Lateral decubitus can detect < 25 ml of pleural effusion.
Vanishing tumor is seen in case of fluid accumulation in fissure. This condition is most commonly seen in congestive heart failure.
USG is the best investigation to detect minimal pleural effusion.

Solutions

The presence of ground glass opacities goes against the diagnosis of UIP.
Ground glass opacity is a common finding in Non specific interstitial pneumonia and hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
The given image shows the findings of UIP.
UIP is the most common type of interstitial lung disease, seen in older age groups.
It has a very poor prognosis, and does not respond to steroids.
Common imaging findings of UIP are:

Honeycombing
Traction bronchiectasis
Ground glass opacities
Apicobasal gradient

Solutions ✅

The given axial section of HRCT lung shows areas of consolidation in bilateral lungs with air bronchogram; these findings in a patient with febrile illness are suggestive of pneumonia.
Pneumonia can be lobar and interstitial.
Lobar pneumonia has bacterial etiology.
Interstitial pneumonia has viral etiology.
On imaging, the pneumonia will show areas of consolidation with air bronchogram.
The consolidation is defined as areas of increased opacity which is obscuring the bronchovascular marking.
