A StrangerA stranger I am to this city so cold,
It questions my soul with a grip strong and tight,
Hurls me afar where the past will unfold,
Leaves me heartless, lost in the night.
A stranger I am to the world once mine,
My spirit is crushed beneath their feet,
Buried in blame where shadows entwine,
A lifetime won’t make my defense complete.
A stranger I am to the words I once knew,
Lies have taken deep root in my veins,
Sorrows have drowned all joys that grew,
Flowing through me like crimson rains.
A stranger I am to the springtime bright,
No season remains to welcome me back,
I leave behind both day and night,
Love was brief, now fades to black.
