On "Competitive Culture"
It's a poison. The world we are living in has made us all so alike that we compete to find out who is less alike; interestingly, we still combat on the same battlefield. I believe human psychology leads us to accept that everyone is the same, that everyone needs to follow the same path, and that the one who gets ahead of everyone is the "unique" one. But no.
These people aren't unique; they are just the top level of "others." This type of person can be easily ruined when they continue to be outcompeted, realizing they weren't special. Everyone is different; everyone is unique. No one's fingerprint is similar to someone else's, yet these people have decided that to show their superiority and uniqueness, they must race with others in the same way. Pathetic.
Months ago, I viewed these people positively, but today, I feel sad for them, and I believe they feel the same about me too. They are so alike that they find others equal to themselves to compete against.
Some of them will see me as a loser, someone who is trying to accept failure in this "competition." But I see myself as someone who has stopped to look around and realized that this is not for me. You can't call yourself unique and compete with thousands who share the same ambitions and motivations; no, that's wrong.
My message to those "competitive" people is to compete with yourself. Don't compete with others, because it takes one "zo'rdan zo'ri" to break a few parts of your character. And for those competing with themselves, good luck! But please make sure you don't see "yourself" in others; it's just a way to mask it.
P.S. Some will find this post from me quite ironic, but it is what it is. Some will say I'm slowly preparing for college admissions—xudo biladi. I don't know. I wrote what I realized recently.
Just don't base your life on others. At the end of the day, it's "your" life.
