Some people say the fashion industry is bad for the environment, as it encourages consumers to buy a new clothes all the time.
Do you agree or disagree?
There is a view that the fashion industry damages the nature because it motivates customers to purchase new clothes regularly. I agree with opinion since the fashion companies encourage people to engage in more consumerism, which results in waste crisis and poaching.
Fashion industry profits from consumerism, making people believe that they need new clothes all the time. These businesses often promote clothes based on seasons and employ celebrities to make sure new products being sold, and some of those clothes will eventually lead to more waste crisis since many customers throw away certain items usage. This is the main reason why the fashion industry normally endangers ecosystems.
In addition to the problem of waste, there is also an issue of poaching. To sell specific products, some animals are killed, as they have particular elements needed to produce clothes. These components can be fur, teeth and skin, among others, which is why animals such as tigers and chinchilla are being killed to make coats. The continuous death of these animals can be tragic for the environment because they can eventually vanish. Such examples show the direct link between the influence of fashion and environmental damage, meaning fashion companies’ impact has to be studied and minimized.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that business involved in the industry of fashion are responsible for a huge amount of harm done to the environment. These companies support consumerism and create a market for unique products which results in poaching.
