Being away from a family. It's a kind of loneliness that words can't fully capture. At first, it's overwhelming, the empty space where their laughter used to be, the silence where their presence once filled your days. It's terrifying to realise that you're on your own. And no amount of calls or messages can replace the feeling of being home. The crying eventually stops, but the missing never does. You think about them every day, even if you always don't say it. You remember the small things: family dinners, the sound of their voices, the way they got you without needing an explanation. You don't stop missing them, you just get better at carrying it, the ache becomes quieter, but it's always there, reminder of what you have left behind and how much they mean to you. It's okay to feel the weight of it, it's okay to miss them so deeply that it hurts. No matter where you are, you're never truly alone, their love is with you, always. That kind of love doesn't fade with distance...

Islam and Science 🤩 🔬

The very first revealed word in the Quran was “Iqra” (Read), underscoring the importance of learning. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself stated, “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.”

Today many teenagers rely greatly on technology when learning.
Is this a positive or negative development?

A large number of teenagers are becoming increasingly reliant on technology as a learning tool. In my view, this trend is positive, as it can contribute to academic success and overall learning experience.

Higher productivity and quality are the primary benefits that come with technology. The use of AI - Artificial Intelligence - is a good example. By integrating AI into their study routine, teenage students can complete their school tasks more efficiently without the need to visit libraries and waste precious time. Whether it is to find information, carry out complex calculations or analyse large amounts of research data, the state-of-the-art AI tools such as ChatGPT and DeepSeek often generate fast and highly accurate solutions. With the assistance of this technology, students are more likely to showcase greater academic excellence and enthusiasm, which could motivate even struggling students. This might not only propel general intelligence but also spark academic interest in the next generation of professionals.

Another positive impact that technology can have on teenagers’ learning experience is the availability of a wide range of study applications. Mobile platforms like Kahoot and Duolingo can transform a monotonous, traditional study setting into a more interactive and engaging learning experience. Through various features such as virtual competitions, modern design, progress tracking, and a massive community of like-minded peers, these platforms can make a noticeable difference in the academic progress for many learners. By chatting with study partners or playing mini-games, the users may feel less anxious about, say, learning a foreign language or mathematical concepts, fostering a more positive attitude toward studying.

In conclusion, I think that the excessive reliance on technology among teenagers should be regarded as a positive development, since it can increase productivity and quality, as well as make the learning process more interactive and engaging. The introduction of artificial intelligence and various study applications into teenagers’ study routine can prove very helpful.

Some time ago, a student asked me how music helps with learning a language, especially English. I guess he didn’t know the exact methods, exercises, or techniques. So, I had to explain to him that if you actually try to learn a song—the words—and repeat them over and over, it does help with fluency. And it definitely works.

Sometimes, the song doesn’t even have to be difficult. But if you try to learn a rap song—a nice rap song with a lot of words and different vocabulary—it helps with fluency, vocabulary, and rhythm as well. Imitation is another key aspect. There’s a lot happening with music when you use it as an educational tool.

In my case, I went to the extremes because I actually recorded music. I would go to a studio and spend hours repeating the same verse, re-recording the parts I didn’t like, and trying again whenever I felt frustrated. And honestly, it helped a lot.

For those who want to make their language learning more fun, I’d suggest finding something like music. It doesn’t have to be music, but I think music is one of the most effective tools—at least for fluency. Obviously, pronunciation improves as well. Grammar, not so much, because many musicians make grammatical mistakes when they sing or rap. In fact, a lot of rap songs are full of slang, so you don’t always get the most academic vocabulary or advanced grammar.

But when it comes to pronunciation and fluency, music can be a powerful tool. You don’t have to go to a studio—just practice at home. Repeat the same song over and over, work on imitation, and pronounce the words the way they should be pronounced. Imagine that you’re singing or rapping. That’s when it really starts to make sense.
