The plans illustrate the current layout of a university’s sports centre and proposed changes following redevelopment. Overall, it is expected that the sports centre will witness an expansion following the removal of all outdoor facilities and the addition of indoor fitness, retail and recreational amenities. Notably, proposed plans suggest that most development will take place along the outer edges while the central part remains largely unchanged.
Now, although there are only several basic facilities in the sports centre, people can practise both indoors and outdoors. There are two outdoor courts on both sides of the sports centre. Inside, there is a reception just opposite the entrance. A 25-metre long pool is located in the centre, surrounded with seats from the east, a gym from the north and a changing room from the west.
Following construction, the sports centre will be more modern and sizable, serving users only indoors, with a range of new facilities. The western outdoor courts are planned to be converted into a leisure pool, with the introduction of a new changing room and a small sports shop to the south. On the other side of the central pool, two adjoined dance studios will be constructed. The gym on the far side of the entrance is proposed to be expanded, being enlarged to the dance studios. While there are no planned changes in the centre, a new sports hall will be added to the right of the central seating area. On the bottom right corner, another changing room will be built, to the west of which a café will start catering to people.
