One of the most common mistakes in IELTS Writing is going off-topic. Before you start writing, take a moment to analyze the question carefully.

• Identify the key parts of the prompt: What is the topic? What specific aspects are being asked?

• Plan your answer to ensure you address all parts of the task.

• Stay relevant by linking every idea to the question. Avoid adding unnecessary information.

A well-structured, focused response will always score higher than a long, off-topic essay.
