The provided chart demonstrates statistical data regarding the age of Iceland citizens from 1990 to 2020.

Overall, what stands out is that while there was a decline in the percentage of people aged 55-64, 15-24, 0-14 throughout the given period, the reverse could be said about those who are 25-54 and 65+. Of particular note is that, the share of 25-54 year olds was always the highest in all years

Looking at the downward trends first, despite a minimal decrease in the proportion of those aged 55-64 from 14% in 1990 to 12% in 2000, their rate stood almost unchanged by 2010. Conversely, that index dropped again to its lowest at 10% in 2020. Turning to 15-24 year olds, there was a continous fall within the given three decades as it first dipped from 22% in 1990 to 19% in 2000, and plummeted to mere 8% by 2020. With regard to the youngest age group, similar pattern could be seen. In 1990 their proportion started with 26%, but went down to 18% by 2020

When it comes to the upward trends, the oldest age group, 65 and over, displayed only nearly 13% in 1990, after which it went up insignificantly to approximately 15% in 2010 before experiencing a decline to 14% by 2020. As far as 25-54 year olds are concerned not only did they show a constant growth from 32% in 1990 to 38% in 2010, but also reached a peak of 49% in 2020 which was the highest margin in the entire chart.

IDIOM OF THE DAY

Pull someone's leg

The idiom “pull someone’s leg” means to tease or joke with someone in a playful or lighthearted way. It often involves tricking someone into believing something that isn’t true, but it’s done with humor rather than malice.

📍Example: Sarah told Mike that their favorite restaurant was closing down, and when he got upset, she laughed and said, “Relax, I’m just pulling your leg. They’re open as usual!

The provided charts compare the proportion of various sorts of waste disposed of in one country in two separate years, in 1960 and 2011.

Overall, what stands out is that with the exception of Green and Glass waste that showed stable trends within both periods, the percentage of all other categories experienced changes as Metal, Plastic, Wood and Food waste tended to be thrown more in the latter year, while the reverse could be said about Paper, Textiles and Other ones. Of particular note is that the biggest amount of rubbish came from Paper in 1960, which was overtaken by Food waste by 2011.

Looking at 1960 first, whereas Paper was the most commonly disposed one, constituting one-fourth of the total waste disposal followed by Textiles (17%), the share of "Others"(12%) and Food (12%) was relatively lower. Conversely, with only 4% to 9% ratio, Green waste (9%), Metal (8%), Plastic (8%), Glass (5%), Wood (4%) were the least thrown ones.

Turning to the year 2011, the trends were different. Food waste became the most dominant with 21%, which was slightly more disposed than Plastic and Paper. The former stood at 18% and the latter at 15%. By contrast, among remaining categories, the only one with higher index than 10% was Textiles (11%) and the rest, including Green waste (9%), Metal (9%), Wood (8%), Glass (5%) and Other (4%), displayed the lowest figures.

Overall, what stands out is that while the number of divorces in Finland witnessed an increase throughout the given period, the reverse could be said about Sweden. Of particular note is that, with the exception of 2015, the divorce rates were always higher in Sweden.
