Use definite, specific, concrete language.

Prefer the specific to the general, the definite to the vague, the concrete to the abstract.

A period of unfavorable weather set in. VS It rained every day for a week.

He showed satisfaction as he took possession of his well-earned reward. VS He grinned as he pocketed the coin.

#Writing Seek original images.
Reject clichés and first-level creativity .

Never use a metaphor, simile, or other figure of speech which you are used to seeing in print,” writes George Orwell in “Politics and the English Language.” Using clichés, he argues, is a substitute for
thinking, a form of automatic writing:
“Prose consists less and less of words chosen for the sake of their meaning, and more and more of phrases tacked together like the sections of a prefabricated hen-house.”
That last phrase is a fresh image, a model of originality .
The language of the people we write about threatens the good writer at every turn. Nowhere is this truer than in the world of sports. A postgame interview with almost any athlete in any sport produces a
quilt of clichés:
“We fought hard.”
“We stepped up.”
“We just tried to have some fun.”
“We’ll play it one game at a time.”
It’s a miracle that the best sports writers have always been so original. Consider this description by Red Smith of one of baseball’s most famous pitchers:
This was Easter Sunday , 1937, in Vicksburg, Miss. A thick-muscled kid, rather jowly, with a deep dimple in his chin,
slouched out to warm up for the Indians in an exhibition game with the Giants. He had heavy shoulders and big bones and a plowboy’s lumbering gait. His name was Bob Feller and everybody had heard about him.
So what is the original writer to do? When tempted by a tired phrase, such as “white as snow, ” stop writing. Take what the practitioners of natural childbirth call a cleansing breath. Then jot down the old
phrase on a piece of paper . Start scribbling alternatives:
white as snow
white as Snow White
snowy white
gray as city snow
gray as the London sky
white as the Queen of England

Essay Program for Elite Students

You've mastered the numbers: exceptional SAT scores, outstanding GPA, impressive IELTS results. Your achievements speak a lot about your dedication and capability.

But here's the challenge: The personal statement is the one component where pure academic excellence isn't enough. It's where admissions officers seek the
person behind the percentiles.

Introducing my Essay Program – a carefully structured program that moves you from numbers (SAT, Honors) to compelling personal narrative.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗜𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁:
• Progressive Methodology: From academic foundations to personal storytelling
• Small Group Dynamics: Limited to 10 exceptional students
• Proven Track Record: My past students have gained admission to UToronto, Waseda, LSE, and UChicago (last 2 for Grad. School - check results in @levsha_services)
• Personalized Attention: Individual consultations complement group sessions
• Peer Learning: You'll collaborate with equally accomplished peers
• Guaranteed Results: I am so confident in this program, that I guarantee you will get in. If you do not, I will provide a Full Refund.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲:
1. Foundations in Academic Writing
2. Research & Critical Analysis
3. Narrative Techniques & Personal Voice
4. Story Architecture & Personal and Communal Impact
5. Individual Consultations
6. Final Refinement & Polish

𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆:
• SAT: 1500+
• GPA: 4.85+
• IELTS: 7.5+
• Minimum 2 significant honors/activities

𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: $999

After 3 years of helping my friends and students gain admission to top universities, I've observed that exceptional achievements, such as high SAT and olympiads, alone aren't enough. Personal Statement and Supplemental Essays is where equally qualified candidates diverge. This program will give you a voice in your essays that is rich in authenticity, culture, and identity.

𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱

Recommendation Letter Checklist

When writing recommendation letters, I go through this checklist:

My fundamental principles in writing them:
Every great letter tells a story
Cultural context creates uniqueness
Specific moments reveal character
Actions speak louder than adjectives
Growth shows more than achievement

Authenticity Checklist to make sure it is unreplicable:

For each paragraph, ask:
Could this story only happen in your classroom in Tashkent?
Would you tell this story to a colleague over tea?
Does it include real details (sounds, sights, words used)?
Does it feel like a genuine memory?
Does it avoid all generic recommendation language?
Does it show rather than claim?

writing letters takes time and mastery of writing style flexibility. if you want secure letters, you can consider my recommendation letter writing service: @levsha_services

good evening guys

we are launching our Offline SAT Courses in Tashkent.
our aim is to get enough interest and results by the start of the next year, and only work with a few people who truly want to get in for a low price.

teacher has 750 in SAT English, and the location is quite close to WIUT, AL UWED, and Interhouse - near Minor Metro.
the price is: SAT English: 499k uzs
Math and English: 899k uzs

you might think the price is absurdly cheap (and it truly is!), but we just want to get results and have no intention to "maximize shareholder value"
education is a unique sphere where scaling is complicated and until we find the right methods, we will keep the student number low and price cheap.

hence, if you have siblings who need to prepare for SAT offline, feel free to recommend us (@berkeley_uz)
we will be including Plato, Emerson, and others as required reading for the curriculum, so you do not have to worry about the "SATman" spirit.

here is the post itself: https://t.me/berkeley_uz/247

@levshamind

with a student, we changed the simple "allegory of the cave" to chained views mistaking shadows for reality.

that was quite brilliant.

done!

we've written some of the most outstanding essays i have read from all experience of reading essays.

a few more applications and letters left for other kids. once done, i am thinking of launching an essay program for kids with good test scores and activities but struggling with writing essays.

meanwhile, we will be preparing for interviews.

@levshamind

First.

We just submitted the Early Application with my first student this year.

Lots of craftsmanship, research, and sweat has gone to this profile.

sorry for misinterpetation!

Irony
Just don’t forget irony; it’s the entry ticket to humanity. Advice: There are some people that if they don’t know, you can’t tell them.
LOUIS ARMSTRONG
History of the World in 10½ Chapters say, “Irony may be defined as what people miss.
”Of all places, the house magazine Bridge Bulletin recently ran an article that began: “Irony, in the sense of finding unexpected truth, is frequent in literature but rare in bridge” you can also use understatement.

For him, irony was not just a literary trope but constituted a whole approach to life and, he argued, should be present in every work of art. It’s not so much amatter of words, or even of character or situation, but rather a total perspective. Central to irony is “never to articulate the idea as such but only casually to suggest it, to give with one hand and take away with the other, to hold the idea as personal property.”
He called his thesis The Concept of Irony, with Continual Reference to Socrates, and as suggested in his title he referred constantly to Socrates, who pretended to be ignorant and under the guise of being taught found a way to instruct others. With Socrates, “the outer and the inner did not form a harmonious unity, for the outer was in opposition to the inner, and only through this refracted angle is he to be apprehended.

VLADIMIR NABOKOV, 1948
I feel sorry for novelists when they have to mention women’s eyes: there’s so little choice….Her
eyes are blue: innocence and honesty. Her eyes are black: passion and depth. Her eyes are green:
wildness and jealousy. Her eyes are brown: reliability and common sense. Her eyes are violet: the
novel is by Raymond Chandler.
