Yesterday, I have started three offline groups and wrote an essay for my seven plus students. Before that, we analyzed an article from Investopedia, taking notes of key words and ideas. Doing that helped to write the essay faster and understand its content perfectly. The essay I am talking about is right here, enjoy ⬇️

Some people believe that consumerism is good for countries, whereas others argue that it has negative consequences. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

It is believed by some that consumerism is beneficial for countries, while others claim that this phenomenon has adverse effects. In my view, consumerism can result in economic benefits, but is mostly disadvantageous because of its social impact.

Consumerism encourages people to buy more, whether it is services or goods. This means the amount of production and sales increases, helping businesses and economy grow in general. Countries such as the US and China, for example, have high consumerism levels and the largest GDP figures in the world, meaning there is a connection between economic progress and levels of consumption.

Environmentally, however, consumerism is criticized, as more consumption often means more waste. To be specific, with the rising population and increased consumption, there is more demand to produce and sell products. At times, these products may not even be fundamental, but people’s wants and preferences can cause businesses to create them. This is also why poaching has become common, with animals such as tigers now close to extinction.

From my perspective, consumerism is dangerous mainly because of its social repercussions. Many people now purchase more not because they need a specific product, but because they want to elevate their social status. This is particularly visible in Asian countries, where conspicuous consumption has become a norm. However, it is a dangerous tendency as people become too materialistic and even get into debt.

In conclusion, even though consumerism can help in an economic sense, it is mostly detrimental due to its ecological impact and social influence.

Anyways, tomorrow is the last day to sign up for the new speaking/writing online course ❗️

New speaking questions are being added to the app, so I am excited to answer many of those in this new course. Already found some nice writing tasks, too. This should be a really productive course and it is the first one where I focus exclusively on writing and speaking at the same time. Participants will get a chance to choose some lesson content as well (meaning I will sometimes ask them what they want to study during classes) 🔋

Contact @dilshodbekftw to sign up or ignore this post if you are extremely good at self-studying.

a little bird told me (idiom) - used to say that you have heard a piece of information about someone from someone else.

In this case, the bird is not little, but you understood the way this idiom can be used:)

I really want to open an 8+ course, but I am afraid it will turn into an intelligence contest. I really don't like it when students come to courses to show off and debate instead of learning. I believe other teachers feel the same way. Otherwise, there would be many 8+ courses.

Sherzod is an English teacher who recently upgraded his 8.0 to this beautiful 8.5 overall 💥

As you can understand, he already has a really good level of English, and we will continue making necessary adjustments until he gets an even higher result.

I believe he can be the next niner who took part in my courses. Thanks, Sherzod, for sharing this result ⚡️

The most unique essay in this collection is undoubtedly the one I wrote about consumerism. What makes it special is that it focuses on just ONE IDEA.

Yes, that’s right—you can have just one idea in an essay and still write two paragraphs, as long as you explain it thoroughly with strong examples. Check it out ⬇️

The rise of consumerism has made people more materialistic. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

INTRODUCTION: The growth of consumerism is considered to be a reason for people’s increased sense of materialism. I agree with people connecting these two together as individuals are indeed more materialistic thanks to the cultural impact of consumerism.

MAIN BODY 1: Consumerism is an idea that buying more products and services helps one become healthier or happier. In a sense, it is “the more, the better” ideology that inspires many of us to make as many purchases as possible. This frequency can translate into a bigger appreciation of money and material, making people more obsessed with having more money to buy more tangible and intangible goods.

MAIN BODY 2: Examples of increased materialism are everywhere, ranging from consumer electronics to the purchase of luxurious cars. iPhones, for instance, are no longer looked at as devices for communicating. In fact, many people see those as a symbol of status. Younger people even ridicule their peers who cannot afford Apple products, showing how people’s culture can be affected by brands and their marketing. As for cars, they can be used as a testament to people’s desire to collect valuable items. What used to be a vehicle for commuting can now be considered a highly expensive asset that is worth investing in. Success behind brands such as Bugatti, McLaren and Ferrari can support this argument.

CONCLUSION: In conclusion, it is true that the power of consumerism made people more materialistic in general. The connection between these two phenomena cannot be overlooked, with examples of technology and cars helping to understand this link better.

Do people in your country like to wear bright clothes? - I think the answer is no because most of the time people in our country prefer to wear something modest, something conservative, which is usually black, white and gray and I think our people just don't like attracting too much attention with any of those bright colors.

@dilshodbekravshanov 📱

What color clothes do you like to wear? - For me, it's mostly black and gray mixed with colors like red and orange. I like those combinations, but I would not say that I don't limit myself too much when it comes to colors. I can wear almost every color... almost... with the exception of maybe two, three.

@dilshodbekravshanov 📱

Do you think colors influence you? - I think they definitely do and I think it has been proven scientifically many times and that's why these days even marketing professionals use certain colors to attract people to their product. Like I remember somebody told me that red is the kind of a color that makes you want to eat. That's why fast food companies will often have red as the primary color.
